R_Block becomes Zinc
As you’ll have seen from our recent posts, a lot has been going on here at Zinc HQ. In amongst our funding updates, new hires and product development, we have also been looking closely at our brand and how we want to represent ourselves.
Whilst we are sad to see R_Block go, we are delighted to formally introduce ourselves as Zinc. As our proposition grows beyond our initial founders, whitepaper and website, we find our that our ambition and aspiration for Zinc is rapidly building momentum.
We needed a brand that encapsulated this, appealed to a wider audience and that would stand the test of time.
With a brand taskforce consisting of Luke (our CEO), Charlotte (Head of Marketing) and Josh (Lead Designer), we set to work and ran a Google Design brand sprint session, looking at our goals for the company, and how we want to be perceived, both now and in the future.
A thorough process ensued to find our new name. We highlighted brands that encapsulated the sentiments we wanted to express and generated over 200 names based on a detailed list of criteria. The list was whittled down thanks to market research and we eventually asked our (very active) community to make the final decision. Once we knew the domain name would work and had sought legal advice on trademarks, we saw it all coming together.
Zinc is short, it’s punchy, it’s memorable. Zinc is typically used as a catalyst in bringing two organic things together, in our case bringing people together for work.
Zinc is necessary for optimal mental and physical performance, energy levels and body composition. Zinc’s role in life can’t be understated, and neither can the roles of our workers.
So with a new name that symbolises us perfectly, the rest of the re-brand continues. We look forward to sharing more in the coming weeks.
