Love As A Response To Depression And Death
Life is an arena of possibilities, an open battlefield where anything can happen.
Every day I meet people who try to avoid death by avoiding unpleasant situations, visiting plastic surgeons, over-consuming goods, and trying to convince themselves that death will never touch them.
Epicurus, an ancient Greek philosopher, used to say: “When we are here and we live, death is far away.”
What these people do not realize is that by avoiding death, they also avoid life, as they die little by little every day. They lose the joy of surprise, the unpredictable, the joy of being healthy and aging, and the joy of having wrinkles as a legacy of life experiences.
Thus, with mathematical precision, they are led to depression, obsessions, and a fatal surrender to destiny, without taking the reins of their lives.
