Coronavirus Tracker: Economic Impact for Translators

We’re posting polls on Twitter and Facebook, in some translator groups, and linking to the Twitter polls on LinkedIn.

Purpose of these polls

By taking a simple survey, we can gauge the impact of the coronavirus on translators’ home economies and catch a glimpse of the larger economy.

Results

We altered the question for the second week to remove interpreting, because what we have heard is that most interpreting jobs are simply stopping, so that data wasn’t helping. This is reflected in the data, with the percentage of translators who are impacted seeming to drop to around 33%.

But one thing is, if you do know any interpreters, by all means send them some translation work to help them out.
