We’re super excited to announce that the Zippie OS Alpha has now launched in Ethereum testnet. This is a really big day for us and something we’ve been working towards for a long time. The launch of Alpha means that we can finally get our fantastic community properly involved in the development of Zippie, ensuring that it continues to get bigger and better. So, what can Alpha participants expect in the coming weeks?
Who can take part?
To kick things off, we’ll be granting Alpha access to a handful of active community members. Once the Alpha has proven to be stable enough, we’ll move to mainnet and grant access to an increasing number of participants.
What can participants do?
As part of the initial testnet Alpha, you will be able to create your digital identity, or Zippie Passport, as well as store, receive and send ZIPT tokens. Happily, soon you can do this without needing ETH for gas. What’s more, this feature will also be available in the mainnet version, because Zippie’s pay-my-gas service will pay your Ethereum gas on your behalf. This way you don’t need to worry about having ETH in your wallet every time you make an ERC20 transaction. How cool is that!
What about sending tokens?
Participants in the testnet version will use test Zippie (ZIPT) tokens. Once we’re in mainnet, “real” ZIPT tokens can be used. What’s more, soon you’ll also be able to automate your private key handling with key split and confirm large payments with the Zippie card, an NFC smartcard we’ve created for added convenience and security. We’ll be talking more about this in the next few days, so stay tuned.
New video, website and more
And this isn’t all. We’ve got lots of exciting news and updates due this week. We’ve got a brand new video and website out. The video will give you an insight into our vision and the incredible potential Zippie has to truly connect the world’s 2 billion smartphone users. So, tons of exciting things happening. We hope you’re as enthusiastic about them as we are.
And if you really want to be part of history, why not help us test Zippie Alpha? We’ll be gradually inviting more and more people over the coming weeks. Just ping us over at Telegram to volunteer. We’d love to have your help.
