Fundraising Focus: Linköpings FC
Zohero helped this Swedish women’s team crowdfund their travel to Champions League games
In 2016, women’s team, Linköpings FC had the sort of season that football supporters and players all dream about. They finished the season as the best team in Sweden, winning Damallsvenskan, the top division for the first time in their history. The feat ensured that they qualified for the most prestigious club competition in Europe, the Champions’ League.
However unlike men’s football, women’s teams don’t receive huge TV payouts and Linköping realised that paying for travel to matches across the continent might be difficult — it’s hard enough in a long country like Sweden! They decided to start a fund with Zohero in order to pay for travel to matches, but also as a fund for future investments in infrastructure and development.
Linköping ran a great campaign, utilising their existing networks and updating contributors regularly. Thanks to their wonderful supporters, the campaign was really successful and the team raised close to 250,000 Swedish Kronor in the first month! As many of their supporters chose to be a monthly supporters, the team will continue to receive 93,000 kr/year to fund the team’s development into the future too.
