Get Your Spaceships Ready 🚀
Welcome to Zone of Avoidance ✨
After millions of years of conquest and evolution in space, three interplanetary races now dominate the universe: Humans, The Syndicate and the Raddans. Technological advance or complete annihilation; they battle to maintain control over an overpopulating universe. And even adventurers who land on faraway and inhospitable planets can no longer expect solitude; life has crawled from the primordial swamps out into the farthest reaches of the universe and brought with it war.
Now there is a new frontier, inhospitable and massive. Humans call it the Zone of Avoidance, a shattered galaxy-turned-battleground hosting an all-out war between the three rival factions. New planets, new resources: claiming a strategic stronghold in The Zone of Avoidance may once and for all tilt the balance in favor of a victor in this war as old as time.
As a mercenary captain you fight for your own reasons, but whatever they are, your battles have only two possible outcomes: victory or death. So fuel up your spaceship, recruit your crew and make your claim to the universe.
Welcome to Galaxy 🌌
Zone of Avoidance (ZoA) is a PVP/PVE, Play-to-Earn, NFT-based auto battler in which the universe becomes your campaign ground.
As a player you’ll fill your NFT spaceship with heroes and embark on your mission out of the New Milky Way toward the Zone of Avoidance. As you hop between planets you’ll discover valuable commodities and fight the inhabitants willing to do anything to protect them.
Like spaceships, heroes and items are linked to NFTs which can be found in card packs. Weaker NFTs can be combined into stronger ones, creating deflationary pressure on supply. The stronger the card, the rarer and more prestigious it is. Hero cards can be found inside card packs. Rarer packs have a better chance of drawing more powerful heroes.
Battles themselves are simulated. Players choose their heroes and items, place them in attack and defense formations, and begin playing either PVE or PVP modes, each with distinct advantages and rewards.
Regardless of the opponent, every battle requires the player to use Fuel — a resource that automatically regenerates after a regular interval. Once the player runs out of Fuel they need to wait for it to replenish before they can battle again.
The PVE game follows the player on a campaign as they travel towards the Zone of Avoidance in search of resources and experience. Players encounter enemies of increasing difficulty who they must defeat for Ethen, Onium, Berithium and Details — the primary resources in ZoA. These resources are used for crafting and upgrades and cannot be purchased outside of the game, meaning players need to engage with the PVE game to progress. Players also earn a small number of tokens for victories and when they finish a game chapter.
The PVP game pits players against each other. ZoA automatically matches players and simulates the battle — the user actively oversees their attacking team while battling another player’s defending team. Defending players don’t need to be online for this part of the game, and their defending formation will automatically resolve the game even while they’re away. Winning players earn tokens and increase their rank.
Both tokens and resources are necessary to progress in the game. Certain smaller upgrades can be completed with just resources, while major upgrades require tokens to be spent as well.
A Diverse Universe 🗡
The vast universe is a dangerous place, and its inhabitants have evolved to deal with its challenges in different ways.
Humans prefer diplomacy to war, and always seek a solution to a conflict that avoids military aggression. This approach, however, should not be mistaken for weakness. Humans are resourceful and determined creatures, and for the sake of their well-being, they will go as far as they need to.
A Syndicate can be summed up in one word: disciplined. For them, the universe is ordered, and society a scientific challenge that can be solved just as any other. The Syndicate believe that only through discipline can new scientific wonders be discovered, and, accordingly, a better life found, one without crime, hunger and devastation.
The only rules a Raddan follows are their own. While seemingly unguided, the Raddans instead believe wholeheartedly in a single, driving principle: freedom. The ancestors of the Raddans wanted them to know no masters, and to live free, fulfilling lives. However, after millennia of anarchy and with new dangers revealing themselves in the universe, the noble traits which once defined the Raddans have taken a violent turn.
The unique traits of every race make each of their heroes fundamentally different. As you begin your quest through the universe you’ll begin to discover which combinations of heroes work best for your strategies, giving every player the chance to develop unique approaches to every battle.
To the victor go the spoils 💰
Everyone fights for a different reason, but one thing everybody needs is money. Whether hording wealth is your ultimate goal, or if it’s simply a means to some other end, you won’t get anywhere without the galactic currency — $ZOA.
$ZOA can be traded on the market or earned in-game through victory in battle. Late-game victories give more rewards, creating an incentive for players to do their best to advance, and tournaments give fame and prizes to the best players in the galaxy. Ecosystem fees also include a burn element, putting deflationary pressure on the token.
$ZOA is used in upgrading heroes and weapons, trading spaceships, renting mercenaries and for NFT transactions in the marketplace. It can also be staked for even more rewards, giving players an incentive to hold on to their hard-earned treasuries.
NFT cards underpin characters and items in ZoA, including the spaceships you need to navigate. Weaker cards can be upgraded by spending resources and burning other weaker cards, giving players a way to grind to higher levels without needing to spend on NFTs while also creating deflationary pressure on the NFT collection. Rare cards will always become rarer as they are destroyed to make even more powerful ones.
