Where we are, and where we’re going 💫
It takes time to journey to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, and it also takes time to build a solid P2E game and NFT ecosystem. Zone of Avoidance has an extendable roadmap to help guide development — it includes important milestones, but leaves flexibility for our developers to explore new ideas as they arrive.
In this article we go through our 2022 roadmap, and take a look forward to see what we’ve got planned for 2023 and beyond ✨
🔥 Q1, 2022

Q1, 2022 is an incredibly important period for our development. In this quarter we’re pushing development on the PVE component of the game and we aim to have testing begin this March.
This quarter will also see our token launch, with the TGE again slated for March. In the lead-up to this event we’ll ramp up community building with several IDOs on reputable launchpads.

If Q1 is when ZoA comes to life, Q2 is when we begin to reach maturity. Our development goal for this quarter is to implement the PVP side of the game and to have beta testers from our community already playing.
This quarter will also see development finish on the crafting system. The crafting system is extremely important for both balance and for the P2E aspect of the game, so it’s essential that we take time to get this component right.

In Q3, ZoA really comes to life. We’re looking to implement new game modes, including multi-battles and wars, as well as an entire new race. These updates will expand the options for players by giving them new ways to play the game and new strategies to explore.

- Mobile version
- NFT rental system
- New content
People normally take time off in the last months of the year, but in the ZoA universe, war never stops. In Q4 you’ll be able to take ZoA with you wherever you go with a mobile version of the game. This is a big milestone for us as the mobile gaming market is one of the largest we could possibly target. This means new users, and subsequently an expansion of the ZoA P2E economy.
We’re already working on solutions for NFT rentals, and in Q4 we’re aiming to open access to the Spacebar. Here players will be able to rent their unused spaceships and heroes to other players and earn income on these assets. This is an exciting addition to our game and increases our NFT utility immensely.

In 2023 we’ve got some fixed goals, as well as some open ones. In Q1 we’ll push out a PVP update which includes new game modes — for example one where players take turns to place heroes in formation, allowing for dynamic strategies that respond to the moves of other players. We’ll also introduce clans and clan bosses, giving you the ability to team up with friends to take on powerful enemies.
As development continues this year we’ll confirm more parts of our ongoing roadmap. We want to make sure ZoA stays fun and exciting in the long-term, and this will mean new heroes, items, game modes and campaigns. The universe is big, and so is our game.
A marathon, not a sprint
Our roadmap is designed to strike a balance between efficient development and careful planning. Building a P2E economy requires careful planning and testing, but at the same time we don’t want to make our community wait years to get a taste of the gameplay. With a flexible roadmap with certain key milestones, we can focus development on building the game piece by piece, all while getting a playable version ready as early as possible for our community.
