Today is an exciting day as we distribute the final prizes to the leaderboard winners of both the single-player and multiplayer runs. This marks the conclusion of our collaboration event, ‘Search For the Monolith,’ in partnership with Alien Worlds and funded by the Kavian Syndicate. In the following sections, we will provide our final thoughts on the event and present a comprehensive overview of the event’s statistics. Join us to discover the culmination of this remarkable journey!

A special thank-you to the Kavian Syndicate council members who approved and provided funding for this event! You can learn more about the Alien Worlds syndicates here.

The origin of the Event

Driven by the fascination surrounding the Alien Worlds syndicate system, we felt compelled to bring a flagship event to our players, with the invaluable support of the syndicates. Through thoughtful deliberation and collaboration with council members from Kavian, we developed a solid blueprint for the ‘Search For The Monolith’ event, cantered around a ‘Supply Run Special Event using Alien World assets’. To ensure a responsible use of resources, we meticulously assessed the costs of the entire program, including prizes, striving for efficiency and minimizing any undue burden on the syndicate. Our aim was to deliver an engaging and memorable experience while maintaining a prudent approach to funding.
After successfully securing funding, we embarked on a journey to enhance our Smart Contracts to accommodate third-party collections. Additionally, we revamped our user interface and improved the overall user experience to seamlessly showcase and utilize the Alien Worlds collection. Simultaneously, we diligently worked on establishing a robust infrastructure for hosting the special event, fostering a vibrant community experience.

During the Event & World Altering Community Decisions

The event was carefully structured into three distinct phases, each lasting 30 days, in order to enrich the storytelling experience, maintain a sense of novelty, and keep players fully engaged. At TenTree Studios, we always strive to stay at the forefront of innovation, constantly seeking to provide players with unique and captivating experiences. This commitment was clearly demonstrated as we reached the conclusion of the initial 30-day phase, where we presented the community with a momentous choice for the Survivors, reminiscent of the beloved ‘choose your own story’ books from our childhood. However, what we didn’t disclose to our community was the significant impact this decision would have on the game’s ecosystem — the complete halt of the food supply for the next 30 days. The player community expressed diverse opinions and provided feedback, prompting us to refine our approach for the conclusion of the second 30-day phase. This involved explicitly outlining the potential consequences of each decision, leading to a much-improved reception from the players, who responded positively to this revised approach.

The Event Conclusion & Life Beyond the Event

The event reached its conclusion in May, along with the temporary additions we made to the game to enhance the event experience. Moreover, the limited edition packs we specially crafted to commemorate the event have been discontinued, resulting in the unavailability of the limited edition Survivor, Jasmin.

At the time of writing this article, we are on the verge of distributing the final rewards to the winners on the leaderboard, marking the official conclusion of the event. It has been an incredible journey for both our team and the player community. Witnessing new players immerse themselves in ZOS, seasoned players returning to partake in the Monolith Finale, and the unwavering support and camaraderie displayed by our players in the Discord community has been truly heartening.

This experience has provided us with invaluable insights and learnings, not only as a team but also from the perspective of our players. We have cherished every moment of this event and the accompanying festivities. As we begin contemplating our next event, we eagerly explore options to incorporate other third-party collections in limited-time events as well. We are excited to continue creating captivating experiences for our dedicated player base.
