My Internship at Zugata

My 4 month at Zugata was an exciting and rewarding ride. In retrospect, interning at Zugata offered me what I looked for and more.

First of all, I was able to take on large responsibilities. I did not work on an intern project that may not see the light of day. Instead, my code was pushed to production during the first week and this really made me feel my work was valued and impactful.

I was always given the chance to take on more complicated tasks and learn new technologies. Near the end of my internship, I was also assigned to initiate the process of integrating Zugata with another Human Resource Information System. It was a challenging project and I enjoyed every moment working on it: it pushed me to grow as a software developer and I am grateful for the opportunity.

At Zugata, transparency is part of the company’s core culture. During weekly all-hands, every team shares their progress of the week and I got to know what everyone besides the engineering team was working on. In addition, everyone was encouraged to share their work at the weekly demo’s day. Although I was a Software Engineering intern, I learned a lot from these meetings about the duties of the sales, design, marketing, product, and customer success teams. Interning at Zugata was a great way to experience how a startup operates and how each team works together.

Finally, in addition to all the great learning experience, it was fun interning at Zugata. Everyone was approachable and I felt like part of the team.

The perks including catered lunches (3 times per week), Zugi-hour (Happy hour on Fridays) and different events such as Lunch & Learn, movie night and Zugata Play Day. All of these made me look forward to coming to work.

I highly recommend students who want to learn a lot, challenge themselves and work in an awesome and fun team to check out their open positions and apply for a Zugata internship.
