⭐1st episode ⭐April 26, 1986, 1:00 a.m. Explosion at nuclear power plant at 23 minutes

Nuclear power plant executives underreport the accident, even though they were required to evacuate immediately when the reactor core exploded. The sight of firefighters extinguishing the fire in the midst of dancing radiation and residents touring the area near the explosion site sent chills down my spine. It made me strongly realize that it is the general public that will suffer the damage.

⭐2nd episode ⭐Site Inspection

General Secretary Gorbachev dispatches Deputy Chairman Shcherbina and Dr. Regasov to Chernobyl. They go to investigate the site and see the black smoke emitted by the reactor core, which has been exposed by the explosion. After the Chernobyl nuclear accident is reported around the world, the residents begin to evacuate en masse. Physicist Ulana Homuk arrives in Kiev Oblast, which has lost its inhabitants (a composite character created by combining various scientists).
Stellan Stealthgard plays the deputy of Sicherbina and Emily Watson plays the physicist Ulana Khomuk. The two have not worked together since Lars Fontrier’s “Breaking the Waves,” a film directed by Lars Fontrier. “Breaking the Waves” is one of my favorite films, so…
