Synopsis: The 1920s was the golden age of Hollywood, a time when compliance was not a concern. Jack, a great silent film star, is the star of a lavish film industry party held every night. At the party, Nellie, a new actress who dreams of becoming a big star, and Manny, a young man who dreams of making movies, have a fateful encounter and have a heart-to-heart. Fearless and uninhibited, Nelly charms everyone around her with her special sparkle, and she is on her way to becoming a star. Manny also takes his first steps in the film industry as Jack’s assistant. However, during the turbulent transition from silent films to talkies, the revolution in the film industry becomes a huge wave that engulfs the destinies of each of them.

A book that recounts the madness of Hollywood during the silent era is “Hollywood Babylon” by Kenneth Unger. It compared Hollywood to the ancient Biblical Babylon, a sinful city of moral turmoil. The title of this film is derived from that. The revelry that unfolds at the opening party is like a celebration of the gods of Greek mythology. This flamboyant party scene lasts for 30 minutes, and is a wonderful scene that conveys the passionate breath of the people of that era. Margot Robbie’s effervescent charm is especially overwhelming.

Silent films were free from sex and violence because there was no Hays Code…
