Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead

A film that makes I want to meet Philip Seymour Hoffman

--

Synopsis: Andy, an accounting executive for a real estate company in New York, is embezzling money from his company, and to hide it, he suggests that his brother Hank, who can’t even pay child support for his daughter with his divorced ex-wife, rob the jewelry store owned by his own parents. At 7:58 on Saturday, the day of the plan, things take a turn for the worse…

Philip Seymour Hoffman, one of my all-time best actors, plays a man who craves his father’s love. The film’s heist plan is too lousy and twee, but this is just a tool to tell the story of a broken family. The family’s cries and tragic end that are exposed by the failure of this heist plan are heartbreaking.
