How to install the SideQuest Desktop App, and get the SideQuest app on your Quest headset to unlock its full potential

Using SideQuest’s Advanced Installer will unlock everything that SideQuest has to offer—getting you both the Desktop App and the SideQuest App on your VR headset.

And it can all be done in just a few simple steps. All you need is:

Your computer
Your headset
And a USB-C cable

How to get the Desktop App

Follow this link to the ‘Get SideQuest’ page
Click on the Advanced installer package that matches your computer (Windows, Mac, or Linux—but it should auto-select your device)
Download the file, run it, and follow the steps to complete installation—the SideQuest Desktop app will now open in a new window

How to get SideQuest on your headset

Once you have the Desktop App up and running, getting SideQuest onto your headset is easy!

Turn on your headset’s Developer Mode (now called ‘Debug Mode’ in the Meta app)
Open the Desktop App, connect your headset to your computer with a USB-C cable, and make sure the connection light in the top bar turns green
Click ‘Get SideQuest on my headset’ in the top bar—this will open up the setup instructions
Put on your headset (keeping it plugged into the computer), and follow the prompts to allow debugging (don’t confuse this with the file/data access prompt)
On your computer, check that the lights on the right of the setup window have turned green, then click ‘install SideQuest in your headset’
Once the download is complete, open SideQuest inside your headset by heading to your app library and finding SideQuest in the ‘unknown sources’ filter — you’ll see a 6-digit code appear on the screen
Remove your headset and enter the code into the SideQuest app on your PC/Laptop by going to https://sdq.st/link
Accept permissions and enjoy sideloading on SideQuest!
