If I were to write a short letter to my younger self, it would be like this.
I’m in 2018 already for quite a while now. In my mind. Working, planning, new year’s seems like a day just to rest maybe for a bit. Than full on again.
Some things I would like to think about at the end of the year (and write about it on the last day):
I have crazy days lately and my writing suffers. Just here, I have a lot of writing to do elsewhere.
But that just let me to thinking about what makes me alive and what doesn't.
I started to write yesterday evening, but was tired and I needed sleep. So I made a choice to write two posts today and skip yesterday.
It’s a lot about priorities in life. First we must take good care of ourselves so that we have the energy to be useful elsewhere.
I remember my first serious summer job that turned out into a full scale career in tech and communications sector. I started two decades ago and being a part of emerging world was something that ignited my passion for work, amazing projects and broadened my world view.
I’ve got one text today. It was from her. Nice text, wishes for the holidays and 2018. But the point was it was from her. The one who called me Sensei.
I texted back.
In 2078, I’ll be a 100 years old. I hope my memory still serves me then. And I hope I get there, of course.

There’s a movie line a saw recently that got me thinking. So simple, yet so elusive, so hard to answer.
“Everyone here is searching for something. What are you looking for?”
Having a job that you love is great. Doing good even better. Be with the people you learn from, amazing.
But all that does not fulfill you if you don’t play. If you don’t take time for yourself, if you don’t stop and awe at life, if you don’t dream.
Even with little things, you should treat yourself from time to time. Go for a cake, a beer, a nice meal.
I went for a favorite burger today. After a long work day. It is Monday. But that half an hour was my time and my burger’s. We had a lovely early dinner.
