Dear Hillary Clinton,

Gerard Mclean from Englewood, Ohio. This is letter 7 of 100 I am writing to you, running up to Election Day. I hope you found my previous one insightful about what life is like in The Middle regarding health care and health insurance. In case you missed a few because the US Congress might be withholding some funding for the USPS, I posted the previous ones on line at 100hrc.com

As a reminder, you have an open invitation to have coffee — you, Sen. TimKaine and Sen. Sherrod Brown — at my house or the local Tim Hortons down the road to talk Universal Health Care. Let me know when you can drop by.

It has been a pretty busy day around here so I don’t have much to say other than my health insurance premium alone is triple my mortgage and double my total housing cost. It is the single largest household line item in my budget. The Ohio Dept of Insurance assures me their 29% increase last year was legal, that I should just pay it and be grateful I have health insurance. The Ohio Medicaid Office is out of funds and has been since early this year.

I assume you knew this, but if not, now you do. Gov. John Kasich did not really expand Medicaid in Ohio as he and the media claimed.

We’re being choked slowly in The Middle. We need real #UniversalCare now, not slowly over four to eight years. We’ll all be dead by then.

Regards,

Gerard McLean

cc: Sen. Sherrod Brown
