Dear Hillary Clinton,

Gerard Mclean here, from Englewood, Ohio, just north of Dayton. There were 100 days from your nomination to election, so I’m writing you 100 letters. This is the forty-first letter. The others can be found in your USPS mailbox or online at 100HRC.com

I’m tapping this letter out pretty late as I waited until I watched the Commander in Chief Forum on MSNBC. It was interesting to watch Matt not fact-check your opponent while he continued to interrupt and rush you along.

I know this was supposed to be primarily about the military as that is what a commander-in-chief is, even though many want to make the president commander-in-chief of all us civilians; which I find odd. Don’t you? At any rate, it seemed to be more about national security than about the role of commander-in-chief.

Here is my point of view on national security: The most secure this nation can be is to first and foremost, ensure her citizens and residents are healthy. When people are stressed out over securing health care, their insecurity affects how precarious they feel about everything else, including external threats to their way of life.

We need UniversalCare, SinglePayer, MedicareForAll. It’s not just the monetary costs that is eroding the value of our lives in America. It’s also robbing our souls.

Regards,

Gerard McLean
