Dear Hillary Clinton,

Gerard Mclean here, from Englewood, Ohio, about ten miles north of Dayton, This is the eighty-ninth letter of one hundred I am writing you on health care; one for each day between your nomination and your election. The previous letters can be found in your USPS mailbox or online at 100HRC.com.

Trust me.

I spoke these two words to my family when I told them I was ready to jump from full time employment at the Dayton Daily News into my company, Rivershark Inc, full-time in 2002. The receivables were more than enough to support a family with two teenagers with college in their near future. (I got them through, 2009 & 2013)

The number one concern was health care insurance. Above all — regardless of my personal career needs and entrepreneurial tendencies — my family has never been a day without health care insurance.

Trust me, I said. I promised to always have health care insurance for us.

Each year, it got more expensive and each year — until 2014 — I lived in fear of Anthem BC/BS of Ohio kicking me off my plan, forcing me to renege on my promise. Fortunately, I was able to get in under their radar and I am now grandfathered in.

In 2016, Anthem increased my premiums by 29%. Next year, I expect just as high a premium. I may have to look my family in the eyes and tell them I lied to them.

I need to now trust you to expand the ACA to include SinglePayer, MedicareForAll, UniversalCare like you promised in your nomination acceptance speech. It’s already been too long without that option. I’m running out of time and money for the status quo.

Trust me.

Regards,

Gerard McLean
