We are excited to announce that 3Box will be returning to the mile high city for another year. Join us on February 14–16 for a weekend of learning, hacking and building the next generation of Web3 apps at ETHDenver.
Why ETHDenver?
ETHDenver is the largest Web3 hackathon, and offers the latest trends in decentralised development. 3Box attended last year, and even though we were at the beginning of our journey to build tools for a better web, we were pleased to see several apps built on our platform. Read about our 2019 experience here. Now as our platform grows and we offer more tools for hackers to build with, we’re looking forward to seeing all the crazy, innovative and down-right awesome apps built with 3Box at ETHDenver 2020!
💰Bounties
Shh, we can’t announce these yet… but we will be sponsoring bounties for the hackathon! These will be announced first by the ETHDenver team on their official channels.
In the meantime, your team can get familiar with our APIs, SDKs, and plugins in preparation to hit the ground running on the big day!
How to use 3Box in your hack
If you are new to 3Box and are wondering how to use it — good news, there are plenty of ways in which our APIs will help you build awesome dapps:
- 📁Off-chain Storage: 3Box makes it easy to use IPFS for off-chain application data storage without the headache. This storage is cryptographically controlled by the user, which gives users sovereignty over their own data. For storage, check out our Spaces API.
- 😎User Profiles: Make Dapps more social and human with user profiles. Display names, avatars, and verified accounts for your users instead of hex addresses. Profiles provide a much better user experience than struggling with hex codes. Checkout the Profiles API, our Profile Edit and Profile Hover plugins.
- 🤝Messaging, Comments, and Chat Threads: 3Box threads allow your app to store data on IFPS so that it can be shared amongst many users. This offers many messaging-based use cases (see diagram below). Threads can form the basis for many different types of social applications. Checkout the Threads API, our Comments and Chatbox plugins.
- 🎨Quickly build with 3Box plugins: Our suite of plugins allow developers to quickly and easily drop-in common 3Box functionality such as chat, comments, and profiles to their application. Plugins are perfect for the time-pressed environment of a hackathon!
