3Box Community Update 14 | April 12 — April 26
Since our last update, we’ve had a few really exciting developments to the 3Box application, network, and community.

We launched 3Box Drive!
🙌 3Box Drive is the future of digital identity and personal cloud storage, built on the decentralized 3Box user data network. It’s a personal data hub that puts all your data, in one place, under your control. Check it out on 3box.io.
Drive, a new feature added to the 3Box Hub application, gives users a single place to view and manage their personal data and interactions online. Users can view all of their data from all apps in one place to gain a more complete picture of their identity. Additionally, users can also remove any data they no longer want associated to their identity and it’s actually deleted from the internet. No longer are users required to trust services to delete their data from a server, but users can be sure it’s actually gone by doing it themselves.
We upgraded core network infrastructure.
🛠️ We’re always working to improve our network, but this week we released a major upgrade that makes our underlying internal infrastructure more performant, robust, stable, and anti-fragile. During the upgrade, the network experienced a brief outage on Wednesday morning, but all seems to be working well since the migration. If you experience any weirdness in your data, let us know in the #feedback channel. We will share more about this upgrade in a blog post next week.
3Box Profiles x Giveth App
🤝 We’re excited to announce a collaborative partnership between 3Box and Giveth to offer 3Box profiles natively inside the Giveth dapp. We worked out a new specification for how apps can create app-specific profiles for users inside 3Box. This is important because now users can opt to use their general 3Box profile in Giveth, or to just create a new one for use in Giveth.
In the spirit of both projects being open source, we posted a comprehensive code bounty on Gitcoin for the integration. gitcoin.co/issue/Giveth/giveth-dapp/754/2902
We’re becoming independent!
😎 3Box has been incubated within ConsenSys since the project’s inception last October and now it’s time for us to leave the mesh. We’re finalizing paperwork and various loose ends, but will be able to call ourselves independent soon enough. We’re grateful for the opportunities ConsenSys has provided us, but we’re excited to take the next steps as a project.
