The vampire’s about to bite her when she realizes this is all wrong.

“You can’t go out in daytime!”

The vampire gives a slow and disdainful look over his shoulder at the sun looming over them.

“You shouldn’t believe everything you see in the movies, child.”

And he drains her.

(For the record, Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula could indeed go out in sunlight. The vampiric sunlight allergy thing started with Nosferatu. Which is funny if you think about it: The unauthorized Dracula knockoff started the vampire trope that persists to this day.)

I committed to doing The Writing Cooperative’s 52-Week Writing Challenge, and my choice is a 50-word horror story every week. Can you believe it’s almost over? I know, right? Where’d 2017 go? Please leave some applause if you enjoyed it. And if you liked this, I’ve written longer stuff too.)
