CryptoKitties received US$ 12 million in funding because they are clearly worth it.

The viral sensation that was launch last year had been gaining attention from all who are interested in blockchain and technology.

The investment was led by Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures, who have also backed companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Coinbase.

So looking at their investment track record, they clearly see big things in these cute digital collectables.

Other notable investors include CEO and founder of AngelList Naval Ravikant, founder of Zynga Mark Pincus and Fred Ehrsam, former founder of Coinbase.

Big names interested in this blockchain game, so it is clear where these investors see in the future.

So what is CryptoKitties going to do with all that $$$?

“We envision a world of play, one without limits.”

They are hoping to expand and make it for everyone, meaning those who are unfamiliar with blockchain, they are coming for you if you choose to accept it.

They are full believers of a decentralised world, and building this game with that intentions, hence the world of CryptoKitties and beyond is yours to build.

A statement by Fred Wilson of USV,

“At USV, we think digital collectables is one of many amazing things that blockchains enable that literally could not be done before this technology emerged.

We also think digital collectables and all of the games they enable will be one of the first, if not the first, big consumer use cases for blockchain technologies.

We don’t have much more to say about this investment right now. But we do have a lot more to say about it over time.”

For naysayers, you can just wait and see, for advocates, enjoy the expanding world of CryptoKitties.

There are upgrades to the game as well, from fancy cats being limited edition to create more desires, to increase in birthing rates because the CryptoKitties world is not overpopulated yet.

With the increase in demand and interest, let’s hope the ethereum network can keep up and maybe not crash again this time.

If you do not know what CryptoKitties are, here’s an article from us that will explain all the things you need to know.
