What is HyperSnakes?
HyperSnakes is another addition to the “Hyper” series created by the MIXMARVEL team, who previously launched the popular blockchain game, HyperDragons. HyperSnakes is also the first real-time, competitive, and blockchain-based multiplayer game in the space. In this blockchain-based game, users can compete against players from around the world and win tokens. Similar to the traditional “Snake” game, players can control the direction of theirs snakes’ head, and eat golden stars to grow their sizes. However, you would lose the game if your snake’s head hits an opponent, the battlefield’s wall, or environmental obstacles. HyperSnakes is a skill-based game, in which players can also actively kill their opponents by blocking or surrounding them. The goal of the game is to be the last one standing, the “Snake King”, who will receive a winner-take-all grand prize in ETH. The other players in the game will also receive some token rewards for their participation, allowing them to accrue value in the game.
The “Snake King” is the core gaming mode of HyperSnakes. What makes HyperSnakes different from the traditional game, is that besides eating “ordinary” and “shiny” stars to grow their snakes, players also have the chance to eat digital assets (ETH tokens) from the corpses of their defeated opponents. In order to play, players have to first purchase an admission ticket, paid in ETH, in which 85% of all proceeds go into a prize pool and 5% is paid to the host of the battlefield. Each game lasts 3 minutes and as the game progresses, the Safe Zone will continue to shrink (inspired by PUBG and Fortnite), making the competition between players increasingly more intense. Every 30 seconds, the map will also randomly spawn a deadly poison obstacle that can kill your snake, but also a “treasure chest” that can you give an unfair power over your opponents. Additionally, during the round, players have the possibility to pay ETH right after they die to resurrect in the game, which also increases the size of the prize pool. On the battlefield, players can collect digital tokens (ETH) by eating the coins that their opponents drop after they die — the last surviving snake becomes the “Snake King” and reaps all the ETH from the prize pool.
Another important feature of HyperSnakes is the possibility for players to become an investor, and owner of the game by hosting their private snake battlefields, or stake the game’s native token, SNAKE COIN, in which HyperSnakes gives back part of its profits to the token holders. Players can earn SNAKE COIN as a reward for participating in games, through the “gaming is mining” mechanism. Other ways of obtaining SNAKE COIN include staking tokens (in which 37.5% of the profit from the platform are returned every 24 hours), and inviting new players through the referral program. Additionally, HyperSnakes has a lottery system in which players and battlefield hosts can receive raffle tickets through their active participation in games, giving them a chance of winning a grand prize, and additional perks such as the possibility of purchasing NFT (Non-Fungible Token) skins, that will exist permanently on-chain.
