Last week I gave you The worst TEDx Talk titles ever and the

2 BIGGEST MISTAKES majority of speakers do when they create their TEDx Talk title

These are mistakes that kill TEDx talks visibility, and therefore a success you wanted to have

However, giving you just the mistakes to avoid, won’t help you creating a powerful title. Today I’m going to share with you the 3 rules that will help you create a very potent title of a TEDx talk, and in fact, all kind of YouTube videos.

Just before that

Let’s do a reverse engineering thinking for a second as that MUST BE your starting point

Your title is how people will find you when they search for

👉🏼 a solution of their problem

👉🏼 more knowledge and different way of doing something

👉🏼 an inspiration

👉🏼 something to motivate them to keep going when they feel low

👉🏼 an entertainment when they need an education combined with a good laugh

These are the top 5 reasons why people go on YouTube or Google and chose to watch TEDx talks

And because people come on YouTube and Google to find the answer of their search we need to make sure they find YOUR TEDx VIDEO as an answer.

How you measure that your Title is POWERFUL and there will be more people in the future who will find your TEDx talk just with a click?

The answer is hidden in the amount of views your talk gains in the first 48 hours and the snow ball effect you create.

However …

The truth is that majority of the TEDx Talks get most of their views in the first 1 week and then it all dies.

Here are the 2021 stats I took from the TEDx Talk YouTube channel:

  • Only 23% of all TEDx Talks have more than 1,000 views on YouTube 😳
  • Only 1.97% of all TEDx Talks have more than 10,000 views on YouTube 🤯
  • Only 0.02% get more than 1M views 😱

SHOCKING ??

Let me put these stats in perspective:

75% of the TEDx Talks are around the 120–320 views mark, which means people do a TEDx talk, then share with family members, friends and colleagues and get to couple of hundred views and all stops there

That means that

75% of the TEDx Speakers achieve their TEDx goal only HALF way

they become a TEDx speaker that shared their idea and wisdom

BUT

the world don’t know about it

Those 75% TEDx Speakers are missing 3 major things:

1. A powerful title that attracts people to watch their TEDx Talk

2. Embedding YouTube and social media hacks in the TEDx script and video description

3. A very effective Social Media Strategy and Action Plan

To help you with Nr 1

Here are the 3 rules to create a potent TEDx title:

🎯 Short meaningful sentence

🎯 Snappy & Catchy

🎯 Contains Key words used by people to search on YouTube and Google

Your TEDx title has to have at least 2 of the 3 rules above

To make it easier to apply the rules I will give you 5 tips:

People intend to search on Google and YouTube by typing their PROBLEM. Not the solution! They don’t know yet how to solve their problem. It’s you who holds the key with the solution. Hence

✅ TIP #1: Your Title must contain the problem, not the solution

People use KEY WORDS, like: brain, power, vulnerability, motivation, so my

✅ TIP #2: Use Key words from your topic

Have you ever wonder why the most popular TED and TEDx talks start with

How to … | How not to … | Things to know about …

The answer is simple -

It’s how people search on Google and YouTube, therefore

✅ TIP #3: If your title starts with what people search you have a bigger chance to get more views on YouTube

Here are few more examples:

The power of …

The puzzle of …

X things you didn’t know about …

X things you will always …

What is …

How X can stop …

X problems with our …

Have you ever …

✅ TIP #4 — You can NOT change your title once your TEDx talk has been published on ted.com and YouTube. Be wise when you create it

✅ TIP #5 — Create curiosity

One of the best examples I can give you is “After watching this your brain will not be the same” by Lara Boyd. 34.5 million people clicked so far to watch her talk. They were curios to know how their brain will change..

Let’s go back to what I shared at the beginning — the amount of views your talk has is your measure that your title IS POWERFUL. The more views you get the more people will find your TEDx talk with a click.

But how on Earth can you ‘predict’ such effect?

There is no need to predict. Just use

✅ TIP #6 — Do a research on YouTube and check how other people’s video performed.

Check on YouTube:

  • if your title you have in mind already exists. If so — does it have million+ views, 100+ likes and 100+ comments?
  • what other titles exist already with your key words? Write down the titles with million+ views, 100+ likes and 100+ comments. Use them as inspiration

If you can’t find videos with more than 1 million views search with other key words.

If you got stuck on key words find inspiration in my two favourite websites:

will give you synonyms of your key words

&

will give you the most common searches people do

Of course, if your topic is very niche you will not find videos with million views and hundreds of likes and comments. Scale it down to 100–500 thousand views, 30–80+ comments and 30–80+ likes.
