Winter is coming (at least meteorological), but in here things are heating up. We are aware that you as a community are craving for more and good news to establish the outlook for BitCanna. Work still continues on the background, but we are nearing the time when we really need to make a lot of noise. Let’s dive in for this month how our progress looks like.

Webwallet

Our developer atmon3r is currently multi-tasking. Besides the development on the mobile app he is also updating code in the webwallet which we could not have predicted at the time of the last big update in July of this year(see the dev update of July). With this code update we will also bring back the ability to log in to the webwallet using the Cosmostation plugin as well as adding support for the Leap wallet plugin. Most likely this will be combined with the upgrade to Cosmos SDK v0.47 which is being tested on our devnet.

New options in the webwallet

Cosmos SDK v0.47

On our testnet a newer version of the Cosmos SDK is running. This has already passed the stage of our pure internal testing and is now done in cooperation with our testnet validators. So far we have not found unexpected behaviour in the SDK, so we are confident that this version will serve us well in the (near) future. Most likely we will see the new update to the Webwallet and the SDK combined. An exact timing for this has not been decided upon yet.

Mobile app

The development of the mobile app is nearing the final phase. After a lot of quick iterative internal testing for the functionality we have conducted a full end-to-end test in the past weeks, where we put the app to the test, but also checked whether it had our intended user experience we created earlier (also check the dev update of July for more information). As an end result we have started to use the functionality Github gives us to log issues and tackle them one by one. When that is done, we will proceed to the phase where we will test together with our admins and testnet validators, just like we did with the webwallet (which gave really good results). We expect that phase to start in November, so our next dev update will contain more news on that. And after that admin/validator testing phase, we will also have a public phase, where we will gather all input we can from you as a community.

Small insight in the issues logged on Github for the mobile app

Delegation program

On 16–10–2023 we reopened the applications to our Validator Incentive Program. Where in the previous versions we gathered all information via a Google Forms, this version is different. We have switched to a combination of Google Forms for non-node services (tech support, marketing, etc) and files on Github for the node-services (RPC nodes, statesync instructions, explorers, etc. Find the files on Github here and here). Furthermore we have introduced a delegation for services delivered on our testnet. In the previous rounds we didn’t have this, so it might cause some changes in the delegations later on.

And last, but certainly not least, Raul has created a script which will check a large portion of the validator services delivered on liveliness and whether it meets the requirements. We noticed that some services are only alive during the period where we gather information and not afterwards. We want to incentivize validators who keep their services alive and do the actual work, so count on regular checks on liveliness during the coming weeks and months. We will reach out to validators where the service went down at first, but in the worst case scenario we might resort to undelegations if necessary.

Liquidity pools

In the previous dev update we spoke about the upcoming Supercharged liquidity pool with USDT and BCNA on Osmosis. That pool has not been created yet and we will follow up to find out more on the timeframe on when we can expect this pool to be created.

In the meantime we have investigated other exchanges in the ecosystem as well, like AstroVault, Astroport, Kujira and into upcoming exchanges like Duality and dYdX.

In the coming weeks we will start reaching out to respective teams where we believe BCNA will be of added value to diversify our trading locations. Be on the lookout for more news!

Token vesting

As rightfully mentioned by our community member Abi Obiate on 09–11–2023 the vested tokens on 2 addresses (address 1 and address 2) will be free again. We will re-vest these tokens for another year when they become available. As soon as we have started the new vesting, locking them away for another year we will communicate accordingly.

Communication plan

Closing piece of this dev update is the communication plan we have been working on. With the work progressing on the secret project and the mobile app it is time to prepare to make some noise. We are aware that you all are waiting on it for a long time and we are getting closer and closer to the point where we will get it going. We have created the draft communication plan which we are running through our group of advisors to make it stronger and better. We hoped to be further on this field, but good works takes time and being in two difficult markets (cannabis and crypto) doesn’t make it easier. We will get it right though to hit the right buttons.

Our tech is nearly ready for it with Cosmos Pay, the webwallet, the mobile app and our blockchain as well as our web2-people-onboarding-secret-project. From there on out “all” we need is being used all over the place and being visible. And we will work on achieving just that.

Thanks for sticking with us and we look forward to making the change together with you all!

In case you have questions, remarks or ideas don’t hold back in coming to our socials (Telegram, Discord, Twitter) to discuss with us, our admins and the community!
