Creating an Alias/Identity on Blockmarket Desktop 3.0
PLEASE NOTE: Creating an Alias requires you to have your wallet unlocked and also costs a very small Syscoin fee, your wallet will need to be funded with Syscoin in order to proceed.
Please refer to the Using Blockmarket Desktop 3.0 for the first time instructions if you haven’t yet.
When you first install Blockmarket, a friendly reminder to create an Alias is posted on the “Home” page. Aliases are your username on the Syscoin platform and are essential for all Blockmarket services. These step-by-step instructions will assist you through the process of creating an Alias and assigning an Identity (not required for all Blockmarket services).
Click on the “Aliases” drop-down button at the top of the application. Click on the “New Alias” button to navigate to the Alias menu. You can now begin to creating an “Advanced Alias”(and Alias linked to your Identity) or a “Basic Alias”
How to create an Advanced Alias(Identity)
Creating an “Advanced Alias”(An Alias with an Identity) only takes a few steps.
*Please note: Aliases comprise exclusively of lowercase letters and numbers (similar to websites addresses or e-mail addresses). Make sure you unlock your Blockmarket wallet when creating an Alias or the system will prevent you from purchasing your selected Alias.
The Advanced Alias form requires you fill out a few fields before creating your Alias.
Enter your desired “Alias Name” (required), your “First and Last Name” (not required), “About” (not required), public information (information you would like people to know about you), “Location” (your physical location, not required), Address (required: select the wallet address you would like linked to your Alias), and the PGP Public Key (not required: a security key you use publicly). The encrypted public and private keys will both be generated automatically if you have locked your wallet.

Click on the green “Select Avatar Image” button (not required), and select the picture from your computer that you would like to represent your Alias. This image appears above the green button. Enter your social network links for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Bitcointalk (not required).
Choose your expiration date(required), the default is set to expire in 1 year (the minimum expiration length), if the date is increased, the creation fee will increase exponentially.
Fill out the form and click the purple “Create New Alias” button at the bottom of the form.
You will be asked to confirm if you wish to create the Alias, and displaying the amount of Syscoin required to create it. Click on the purple “Yes” button.
If the Alias doesn’t already exist, Blockmarket will confirm that your Alias is reserved.
IMPORTANT: Do not close Blockmarket yet!
Select the “Transaction List” option from the “Send/Receive” menu) and wait for the confirmation to show and confirm (wait for the green checkmark); if you close Blockmarket before this process, your Alias may not be confirmed.
Creating a Basic Alias
Creating a “Basic Alias” is simple. From the New Alias window, click on the purple “Create Basic Alias” button, which will navigate to a short form to fill out in order to create your Alias (the purple button will revert to “Create Advanced Alias”, which assigns your Identity to your Alias.).
*Please note: Alias characters are all lowercase like website and e-mail addresses.
The Basic Alias form requires you to fill out four fields to create your Alias. Enter your desired Alias Name, Select your Syscoin Address from the drop-down list, Enter a public value (this can be anything you wish the public to know about you), and choose your expiration date (the default is set to expire in 1 year, the minimum expiration length). If the date is increased, the creation fee will increase exponentially. Encrypted public and private keys will both be generated automatically if you have locked your wallet.
Select “Create Alias” when you have completely filled out the form.
Fill out the form and click the purple“Create New Alias” button at the bottom of the form.
You will be asked to confirm if you wish to create the Alias, and display the amount of Syscoin required. Click on the purple “Yes” button.
If the Alias doesn’t already exist, Blockmarket will confirm that your Alias is reserved.
IMPORTANT: Do not close Blockmarket yet!
Select the “Transaction List” option from the “Send/Receive” menu) and wait for the confirmation to show and confirm (wait for the green checkmark); if you close Blockmarket before this process, your Alias may not be confirmed.
