Tell us a little bit about yourself. Feel free to exclude personal details you don’t feel comfortable sharing. Who is B1ackKett1e?

‘B1ackKett1e’ is basically an umbrella organization representing some interdisciplinary research on consensus mechanisms, incentivized game theory and so on. We have an interest specifically in the implications of these fundamentally new and open mediums for content creators and artists, and for decentralized decision making.

What was your earliest experience with crypto?

Everything before trollbox life has become kinda blurry…

Um, Slock.it? no…

It was multiple block-reward halving ago that we began observing the field.

Which cryptocurrencies do you own?

“‘Currency’ is just the first app.” -A Antonopolous

Because our interests lay primarily in the use cases of math and cryptography as open creative medium, as well as in this technology’s ability to bring the most-secure decision making tools, we tend to prefer to deal in ‘protocols’ and ‘platforms’. …

Now that the tournament is over. We’re revealing more information on the Zombie Wizard with a technical breakdown!

What was this whole Zombie thing all about?

There is a bug within our smart contract that allows for 1 of the last 2 remaining Wizards to potentially win the Big Cheeze without dueling.

To do this they will need to create a Zombie Wizard. The method of creating a Zombie Wizard is complex as it involves sacrificing a player’s own Wizards and waiting a few days for the right ascension window to appear (the technical explainer is below). A Zombie Wizard is a Wizard that returns to the game after it has been removed from the tournament.

Don’t worry, a Zombie Wizard is mostly harmless. It doesn’t look any different than any other Wizards, it can be defeated in a normal battle. However… what a Zombie Wizard does is mess up the count of remaining Wizards within the tournament. …

WINNDDDDDDD!!!! screams the last Cheeze Wizard as the crows abruptly take off from their perch atop the Tower. The last spell had been cast and it was done… the thick raging clouds surrounding the Holy tower dissipate. The sound of a wooden pulley lifting thousands of rocks rumbles through the entire tower as a deeply concealed secret chamber slowly cracks open.

A blinding light slowly creeps along the busy floor riding over the many exhausted bodies. It reaches the foot of the Cheeze Wizard. The Wizard takes long, limbering strides towards the light and into the secret chamber. There it is… the Big Cheeze. …

Cheeze Wizards are said to descend from dragon’s milk. A dragon with udders may sound absurd but so does a race of sentient, magic-wielding cheese…

The world of Cheeze Wizards balances on the four teats of a giant cow’s udder. That’s why it’s common practice to follow up “Holy Cow!” with “Amen.”

The Cheeze Wizards tournament in turn carries the proud tradition of using magical forces beyond mortal understanding to settle petty disagreements.

When a Wizard is summoned, they enter into an ancient pact known as a “smart contract”: the Wizard gets a chance to compete for glory and title, and the summoning player gets all their winnings for the rest of the Wizard’s unending life.

Seems fair, right?

Cheeze Wizards explores several new dimensions in blockchain gaming: NFTs with consumable value, on-chain player-vs-player (PvP), composability from on-chain gameplay, and the role of NFTs in-game governance or as part of Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs). …

Given the complexity of Cheeze Wizards relative to other Ethereum dapps, we engaged an external security firm to perform security reviews of our key smart contracts, cataloged below:

As part of their security review, the firm, Sigma Prime, also performed a gameplay analysis we felt would be interesting to all power duelers.

We’ve shared their analysis with few edits for style, below:

Per-move Expectation Value

There are three moves a Cheeze Wizard can perform: fire (F), water (W), air (A). Elemental wizards have an affinity to one of these elements. When an elemental wizard uses a move that matches their affinity, i.e a fire wizard uses a fire move, the result of that match (a single move encounter) has its weight increased by 30% (regardless of who wins). …

Q: ok so I can finally figure this out can someone tell me how I got my ass handed to me on a plate since I only lost one more than the other player?

Alan / Falcon: You won one round “normally” and lost two rounds to your affinity’s weakness. So you lost quite a bit more than just by a single round.

If your opponent is fire, and they use fire, they will take more damage than normal to a water spell.

Likewise, they will gain more than usual if they win with a fire spell.

And if you’re wind and use wind and they’re fire and use fire, that’s a critical hit (marked as >>>) since they’d both get their affinity bonus and your affinity weakness factored in together. …

What is Cheeze Wizards?

Cheeze Wizards is the world’s first blockchain battle royale (with cheese).

In Cheeze Wizards, players use ether to summon armies of Wizards and duel to win the Big Cheeze, a prize that gets bigger with every Wizard summoned (it’s currently over 615 ETH, approx $115K).

Cheeze Wizards’ game logic is entirely on-chain, meaning developers can build all kinds of apps or games for the Cheeze Wizard community without asking permission or taking platform risk. This makes Cheeze Wizards an amazing proof-point for composability on Ethereum today.
