Closure and refurbishment dates for Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park

This article is essentially a timeline of the majority of the attraction and restaurant refurbishments that took place at Disneyland Paris in 2016. Hopefully you’ll find it a useful record of the changes that took place in the parks that year.

You’ll notice that the words “closed” and “reopened” are underlined. Where possible I’ve included links back to the original tweets, to make my sources clear.

January 2016

3 Jan - Cowboy Cookout Barbecue closed (for several months)
4 Jan - Studio Tram Tour closed (for 1 month)
4 Jan - PanoraMagique closed (for 3 months)
8 Jan - Disney’s Enchanted Christmas finished (after almost 9 weeks)
8 Jan - Brave (Touch The Sky) scene returned to Disney Dreams! replacing Frozen (Let It Go)
11 Jan - Peter Pan’s Flight closed (for 6 months)
11 Jan - Adventure Isle closed (for 8 months)
11 Jan - La Cabane des Robinson closed (for 8 months)
11 Jan - Space Mountain: Mission 2 closed (for 5 days)
13 Jan - Fantasia Gardens green fences went up around lake
13 Jan - Ratatouille closed (for 1 day) at 12:00pm
14 Jan - Ratatouille reopened (after 1 day) at 4:30pm
16 Jan - Space Mountain: Mission 2 reopened (after 5 days) with new launch cable
18 Jan - Skull Rock scaffolding went up (for 8 months)
18 Jan - Crush’s Coaster closed (for 2 weeks) for its usual annual refurbishment (but temporarily reopened for the 30-31 Jan weekend)
25 Jan - Cars Quatre Roues Rallye closed (for 12 days)
31 Jan - Animagique’s last ever performance, at 6:00pm (after a 14 year run)

February 2016

1 Feb - Animagique closed (for 5 months) to be replaced with Mickey and the Magician
3 Feb - Crush’s Coaster reopened (after 2 weeks)
6 Feb - Studio Tram Tour reopened (after 1 month) but no new scenes yet
6 Feb - Cars Quatre Roues Rallye reopened (after 12 days)
10 Feb - The Forest of Enchantment (La Forêt de l’Enchantement) opened at The Chaparral Theater, starring Pocahontas, Baloo, King Louie, Tarzan, Rapunzel, and Merida (for 3 month run)
29 Feb - Jedi Training Academy closed (for 10 days)
29 Feb - Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster closed (for 4 months)

March 2016

5 Mar - Swing into Spring started (for 12 week run)
7 Mar - Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast closed (for 5 days)
7 Mar - It’s a Small World green fences went up… again!
10 Mar - Jedi Training Academy reopened (after 10 days)
12 Mar - Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast reopened (after 5 days)
12 Mar - Disneyland Railroad reopened (after 7 months) with Fantasyland & Frontierland Stations
16 Mar - Star Tours: Last Trip to Endor, private event from 8:00pm to 11:15pm
17 Mar - Star Tours closed (for 12 months, reopening on 18 March 2017) to become Star Tours: L’Aventure Continue
21 Mar - PanoraMagique reopened (after 3 months)

April 2016

4 April - Phantom Manor closed (for 2 weeks) following accident
18 April - Phantom Manor reopened (after 2 weeks)
30 April - New Winnie the Pooh Meet ‘N’ Greet area opens

May 2016

2 May - Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery closed (for 5 weeks)
9 May - The Forest of Enchantment (La Forêt de l’Enchantement) closed (after 3 month run)
9 May - Frontierland Station closed (for 3 weeks)
9 May - Discoveryland Theatre closed (for 6 weeks)
18 May - Le Passage Enchanté d’Aladdin closed (for 6 weeks)
30 May - Swing Into Spring finished (after 12 week run)
30 May - La Tanière du Dragon closed (for 3 weeks)

June 2016

2 Jun - Frontierland Station reopened (after 3 weeks)
3 Jun - Pineapple Whip (not Dole Whip) started being served in Adventureland
4 Jun - Frozen Summer Fun started (for a 15 week run)
13 Jun - Dumbo the Flying Elephant closed (for 5 days)
16 Jun - Animagique Theater sign went up for Mickey and the Magician
18 Jun - Dumbo the Flying Elephant reopened (after 5 days)
18 Jun - La Tanière du Dragon reopened (after 3 weeks)
18 Jun - Discoveryland Theatre reopened (after 6 weeks) showing Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
18 Jun - Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster reopened (after 4 months) with a new launch system
20 Jun - Space Mountain: Mission 2 closed (for 12 days)
24 Jun - Rustler Roundup Shootin’ Gallery reopened (after 7 weeks)
27 Jun - RC Racer closed (for 5 days)
28 Jun - Cowboy Cookout Barbecue area reopened (after 6 months)
29 Jun - Mickey and the Magician preview for Annual Passport holders
30 Jun - Mickey and the Magician preview for Annual Passport holders

July 2016

1 Jul - Le Passage Enchanté d’Aladdin reopened (after 6 weeks)
1 Jul - Fences came down around Animagique Theater
2 Jul - Space Mountain: Mission 2 reopened (after 12 days)
2 Jul - Mickey and the Magician opened (after Animagique’s 5 month closure) for a 6 month run, “until 8 January 2017”
2 Jul - RC Racer reopened (after 5 days)
8 Jul - Peter Pan’s Flight reopened (after 6 months) with renovated lighting and paint
9 Jul - Main Street Station reopened (after 10 months)
11 Jul - Sleeping Beauty Castle crane went up for repainting
11 Jul - Catherine Powell became the new President of Euro Disney S.A.S.
14 Jul - Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant closed (for 7 weeks)
29 Jul - Main section of Fantasia Gardens reopened (after 6 months)

August 2016

3 Aug - Pirate Galleon scaffolding went up (for 1 month)
4 Aug - The rivers of Fantasyland were cleaned

September 2016

2 Sep - Sleeping Beauty Castle repainting was completed
2 Sep - Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant reopened (after 7 weeks)
2 Sep - Skull Rock scaffolding came down (after 8 months)

5 Sep - Flying Carpets Over Agrabah closed (for 5 days)
10 Sep - La Cabane des Robinson reopened (after 8 months)

17 Dec - Big Thunder Mountain reopened (after 13 months) with restored scenery, props, and a new explosion scene on the final lift hill
17 Dec - Thunder Mesa Riverboat Landing reopens (after 13 months)
17 Dec - Pocahontas Indian Village reopens (after 13 months)
17 Dec - Blanche-Neige et les Sept Nains reopens (after 12 days)
