Introducing DEFY Revolution’s Virtual Private Mask NFTs

As we draw closer to the date when we begin our mission to take down the Future Systems oligarchy, it’s crucial for each of you to be briefed about the masks that you will possess. Here is a closer look at the different types of Virtual Private Mask NFTs that will be essential when you join the DEFY Revolution.
Why are they masks?
DEFY is set in a near-future dystopian world where a faceless corporation, Future Systems, has amassed dictator-level power over global networks that run the internet. As a result, members of the general population no longer have any privacy or individuality.
Using NFT Virtual Private Masks (VPMs) created by an individual known as kha0s, Operatives can obscure their identity and hack into the Future Systems network via an exploited mobile app. Virtual Private Masks (VPM) are required for all Operatives to conceal their identities before starting the game.
The Types of Virtual Private Masks
There are two broad classes of masks in the DEFY metaverse, with further differentiation within each class.
Premium Masks can be acquired through various means:
- The 8,888 limited edition Genesis Masks are our first series of Premium Masks. They will be minted by our early Operatives on March 26, 2022, for 160 MATIC each. These masks come with a range of benefits for holders, so expect them to be in high demand.
- Subsequent mints for future series of Premium Masks will be available after the Genesis series has been fully minted.
- 2,500 limited edition Phantom Galaxies x DEFY Masks will be exclusively available for Operatives who held the Phantom Galaxies Origin Collection’s “The Hopeful” NFT in their wallets at the time of snapshot. Generic Masks are NFT masks that are distributed to users for free when they create an account after downloading and installing the DEFY mobile game. These were created to ensure that any player is able to play DEFY even if they are unable to mint or purchase a Premium Mask. The Generic Masks will be available after our beta phase, when the mobile game officially launches to the public (target: Q4 2022).
What benefits will Premium VPMs give holders?
Premium Masks offer significantly better benefits than Generic Masks, as certain play-and-earn elements can only be accessed by Premium Mask holders.
Premium Masks are also upgradeable as you progress through DEFY’s missions. Operatives can use the forging feature to burn masks and mint new, enhanced masks that are customized to suit your style.
The 8,888 Genesis Masks will carry additional benefits, such as early access to the alpha version of the game and bonus $DEFY tokens offered along with every mint that may be redeemed by playing the game.
8,888 Genesis Masks’ Rarities
Each of the 8,888 Genesis Mask NFTs is a 1/1, unique, algorithmically generated artwork. No two masks are the same. All Genesis Masks feature the following layers:
- Background
- Base Facial Type
- Eyes
- Facial Hair
- Nose Piercings
- Ears
- Headwear
- Eyewear
- Mask
After the masks are minted, we will share a rarity chart. You can also see the rarity characteristics listed in the “Properties” of each NFT on OpenSea.
The Artist Behind DEFY’s Masks
All DEFY masks were designed by the incredibly talented Pure Libre, who is a graffiti artist, graphics guru, and veteran of Singapore’s street art scene.
