At the midway point of our Project Dialogues series, we wanted to showcase some of the most exciting moments so far. Discover the most useful insights, the most interesting quotes, and a special preview of what’s to come in the next months!

Bringing the community together

If you are familiar with MultiversX, you know there are a lot of passionate builders in the ecosystem.

The Entity Team wanted to bring together some of the top innovators from the community every week to share their experience and vision for the future of Web3.

Starting on February 1st, 2023, the Entity Project Dialogues have spotlighted MultiversX builders every Wednesday evening on a Twitter Space hosted by @EntityFinance.

The series focuses on two areas that are key for blockchain adoption:

  1. DeFi, Payments and Data
  2. GameFi and NFTs

Since the series kicked off with a focus on DeFi, let’s start our summary with an overview of the DeFi, Payments and Data projects so far.

Diving into DeFi synergies

When talking about MultiversX builders, what better place to begin than with the upcoming xLaunchpad project, Hatom Protocol?

Hatom founder Ahmed Serghini helped kick off the Project Dialogue series as its first-ever guest. This lively conversation touched on Hatom’s exciting features such as Lending & Borrowing and Liquid Staking, as well as their vision for scaling DeFi. Ahmed discussed the future of MultiversX and Hatom’s key partnerships with projects such as Runtime Verification.

“Instead of having many protocols doing the same thing, I think that each project needs to find innovative ways to benefit end users. This is the only way to attract liquidity from outside and help MultiversX climb the ranks in the DeFi space.”

Ahmed Serghini • Hatom Protocol

According to Ahmed, DeFi builders on MultiversX should focus on developing different and complementary building blocks to help cultivate a dynamic ecosystem. He also discussed his belief in how quality over quantity is important in DeFi, and how he is confident in the long-term success of decentralized products over centralized ones.

Next up in the DeFi space, another relentless builder and strong believer in decentralization- Neil Nguyen from AshSwap!

As the founder and CEO of AshSwap, Neil has made waves in the MultiversX DeFi space as the creator of the network’s first stable-swap exchange. After launching on the Maiar Launchpad in 2022 and recently going live on mainnet, Neil had a lot of insights to share about building in Web3.

“The real strength of AshSwap is the DAO. Our DAO allows a lot of things to happen.”

Neil Nguyen • AshSwap

Neil explained the importance of DeFi, and also how other day-to-day applications such as blockchain games are key to achieving mass adoption. Diving into AshSwap itself, Neil discussed the project’s mainnet launch and roadmap for other features such as an order book capability and concentrated liquidity pools. He also highlighted the power of the AshSwap DAO and the importance of community engagement.

Decentralizing your data

The next project is all about empowering individuals and taking the power back from Big Data corporations.

Mark Paul, CEO of Itheum, joined the Entity Twitter Space to discuss the vast potential of data NFTs on the MultiversX blockchain!

Mark explained his personal experience with a friend whose health was impacted due to the current system of data silos and the lack of individual ownership over data. This was a key inspiration for the project, and taking back control of health data remains a core focus for Itheum along with other areas such as gaming and the metaverse.

“The most underrated concept of Itheum is that you can already soon jump in and use a lot of the tech we’re talking about today.”

-Mark Paul • Itheum

This episode shows how the Project Dialogues also include builders’ reactions to the most important current events, such as the USDC depeg that occurred just before this discussion. Looking forward, Mark discussed the upcoming mainnet launch of Itheum Data NFTs, Itheum’s groundbreaking plans to leverage DAOs, and the ways that Itheum is disrupting the $200b Web2 data brokerage industry.

The next generation of DeFi

Entity then hosted two more high quality DeFi projects: DX25 and Proteo!

First, James Davies, who is the Chief Product Officer of DX25, joined Entity to discuss the future of DeFi on MultiversX and beyond.

After explaining how he moved to Web3 after an impressive career in traditional finance, James started to dive into the key growth areas in DeFi that DX25 will address. Because of MultiversX’s powerful technology and passionate community, DX25 chose the network to build their next-level liquidity pools, on-chain derivatives and more.

“For us to get the adoption that we want to get, to grow the pie and allow more people to come into this ecosystem, we’ve got to give them the tools to do it.

-James Davies • DX25

James broke down some of the major pain points in TradFi and existing DeFi protocols before explaining how DX25 will address both sets of issues. For example, most everyday investors use managed funds for their retirement. DX25’s Liquidity Management Pools will combine a similar level of accessibility with the decentralization and transparency of Web3.

Entity was then joined by another project at the forefront of DeFi: Proteo!

Entity hosted Proteo DeFi’s Tokenomics Expert Jose Aznar for a deep dive on the project and the future of blockchain technology. As a founder of Moonlorian and Palm Tree Network, Jose is no stranger to the ecosystem. After an interesting opening discussion about the future of MultiversX and Web3, the conversation moved to Proteo and how this DeFi Pioneer has built such a passionate and dedicated following in the community.

“I think that MultiversX is one of the few projects that has a good plan- a good business plan, a good strategic plan for the next years.”

-Jose Aznar • Proteo DeFi

Jose shared a range of insights about the overall value proposition that Proteo brings to the table. He explained that the project is catered toward more advanced users, and broke down the different ways they reward and incentivize long-term holders through constantly adding new utilities for $sProteo and reducing the token emissions over time.

NFTs and adoption

While DeFi is a great use case for MultiversX, the Entity Team is also passionate about the potential of GameFi and NFTs for achieving mass adoption!

First up in this category, CryptoPittz is helping grow MultiversX NFT space with their artwork, utility, and support of other builders.

CryptoPittz team members Jared Craig and Steven Brotman joined this Project Dialogue along with Kevin Lydon from Helios Staking to discuss this exciting project. This project is highly active in the community, collaborating with other builders such as Proteo, Aerovek and Vapor Republic.

“In order to get people onboard, we need to be actually talking to people and getting into stores and showing people they can actually save money on fees by using the blockchain”

-Kevin Lydon • Helios Staking

Together, Kevin and the CryptoPittz Team explained how they are working to bring more innovators, more disruptive ideas, and more decentralized products to the MVX ecosystem. For example, the CryptoPittz Launchpad helped kickstart the Pawn Whale NFT lending platform. By growing their own products and collaborating with other promising builders, CryptoPittz delivers value to the MultiversX Network in multiple ways.

After that, Entity was joined by the MultiversX bluechip builders from Gnogen!

The highly quotable Gnogen founder Joshua Kim joined Entity for a whirlwind of knowledge and glimpses into the future of Web3. With renowned NFT collections like Gnogons and electrifying NFT comic book series such as Emidas, Gnogen is truly an OG in the MultiversX ecosystem.

“You have to have products, releases, events, and activities for the short term, (but) you have to make sure the burn rate for those activities is not going to hinder what you’re trying to accomplish in the long term.”

-Joshua Kim • Gnogen

The conversation covered Josh’s vision for founding Gnogen, his journey on the MultiversX (formerly Elrond) blockchain, and how his team is executing their current roadmap such as the Great War mining program, which leverages MultiversX metadata to create a gamified NFT staking experience. Josh explained how many aspects of being a Web3 founder are a balancing act, and how builders should always prioritize listening to the feedback of their community.

More fun, more impact

The next Entity Project Dialogue was a deep dive on GameFi with the team from Knights of Cathena!

Lukas Anetsberger, founder and CEO of fivefingergames and Knights of Cathena (KoC), joined the Project Dialogues for an entertaining look at building on MultiversX. Nicknamed ‘chess on steroids’ by some members of the community, Knights of Cathena proves that Web3 gaming can be way more exciting than just mindlessly farming tokens.

“The recipe is quite simple: creating a game between Web2 and Web3, by including concepts like profits and ownership without influencing the gameplay experience negatively.”

-Lukas Anetsberger • Knights of Cathena

Lukas explained the progress made by KoC over the course of their alpha phase and gave some previews into what the future holds for this project. KoC has a bold vision to onboard more users to MultiversX, and it was interesting to hear Lukas explain how a careful balance of Web3 elements and exciting gameplay is the key to driving GameFi adoption.

The final NFT/GameFi project from this batch of Project Dialogues was the hard-working and conscientious builders from Aquaverse.

Dolian Barkallah, founder and CEO of Aquaverse, joined Entity to explain how his project became one of the most respected in the MultiversX ecosystem. With a focus on real-world benefits from their NFT collection, Aquaverse generates value for holders as well as the environment. As Web3 natives, the project continues to expand its on-chain presence with plans for new features such as a Play to Earn game on the way.

“There are some people that think that Aquaverse is (just) a charity… People don’t know that there is a revolutionary business model.

-Dolian Barkallah • Aquaverse

While Aquaverse has won awards for its innovative approach to cleaning the oceans with sea sponges, the project also has a strong business component as well. With plans to work with 40–50 partners across the Mediterranean, it will be exciting to watch this MultiversX gem continue to scale its operations moving forward.

For builders, by builders

The Project Dialogues also included some interesting discussions and alpha about Entity’s own plans for the future.

“Entity is open to launch any Web3 product. In general, we are looking for ambitious teams with projects that take the MultiversX ecosystem one step forward.”
