Mentioned in the opening article for Instance’s Reputation Protocol [https://medium.com/@Instoken/instance-reputation-protocol-efcd299ee3d8], service providers are vulnerable to unreasonable customers. Those who tend to cancel appointments at the very last minute leaving service providers with wasted time, time that could and should have been spent attending to someone else committed to an appointment. For those who have used taxi alternative mobile apps, for peer-to-peer ride sharing, taxi cab, food delivery and transportation network company, you notice that the App allows the usual “rate your driver” option — essential to ensure sustainable quality service. However you may have also noticed that some apps also allow drivers to rate passengers, and these passengers in turn can check their ratings. After each trip, riders and drivers are given the opportunity to rate one another based on their trip experience.

Instance has designed a feature where the customer themselves could be rated by service providers, which would eliminate the common issue of ‘bad’ customers failing to commit to a service they have initially booked. Consumers on the Instance App will be assigned reputation ratings based on 3 factors — (i) the service provider’s rating upon completion of service, (ii) time taken from initiation to confirmation of service provider and (iii) the number of disputes that the consumer has initiated before. A maximum score of 5 will be assigned. Weighting factors will be calculated and adjusted fairly based on the data recorded on the Instance platform.

The rating system ensures to protect service provider for more respectful ones. Instance App adopts this feature to preserve the level of respect between consumers and service providers, ensuring a harmonious and high standard network.
