Pasargad was a city in ancient Persia (built in 500’s BC) near the today’s Shiraz and in a small distance from the well-known Persepolis. The city was the capital of Persia during the Achaemenid Era and under the ruling of Cyrus the great. The main significance of Pasargad nowadays is that the tomb of Cyrus the great is located there and survived the time. Cyrus the great was the founder of human rights and thus of great importance to all people in the world. If you visit Shiraz, you may as well visit Pasargad. Other tourist attractions near Pasargad are Naghshe-Rostam and Persepolis. It may be possible to visit all three in one day.
