Eagle App is a desktop digital asset management tool that helps design professionals manage digital assets. Their features are amazing you can organize and find your files very easily but surprisingly on their website they didn’t provide much on the syncing topic so I’d like to contribute to the Eagle App community!

Instead of downloading your files to each device, you are able to set up Synology NAS Drive’s cloud sync service with Eagle App to synchronize all your Eagle library cross devices and even start team collaboration with ease!

Eagle is a local-based DAM application, NOT a cloud product NOR provide synchronization abilities everything you save into Eagle will be placed in the Eagle Library, which is stored in the hard disk drive of your device.

However, with Synology NAS you CAN place Eagle Library in NAS to be read by Eagle directly and perfectly! Synology NAS also helps you save storage space on your local device!

How to Set Up Team Collaboration on Eagle App through Synology NAS Drive

Want to build a library for team collaboration on Eagle App? With Synology NAS Drive service, your team members will be able to share the same library together!

Before you start setting up Eagle App Team Collaboration, you need to know:

Eagle App is made an offline software, NOT a professional collaboration tool. Syncing with Synology NAS is only best for sharing the resources together, please avoid editing the same material at the same time while the synchronization is still in progress (such as classifying folders, adding labels, changing file names, etc.), causing different versions of synchronization that eventually lead to multiple conflicting files.

In order to avoid the above situation, please coordinate the editing time for the same material or use the team library only for browsing and retrieving materials.

To set up team collaboration on Eagle App, please follow:

  1. All team members have Synology NAS Drive set up on the computer and the same Eagle App version
  2. One person creates a Eagle Library, then drag it to the Synology NAS Drive folder
  3. All team members access to Synology NAS Drive and set the same Eagle library path that is located in Synology NAS Drive

Then you’re now set to contribute to the same Eagle library!

  • Note: Same Eagle App license are not required for team collaboration on Eagle App. As long as everyone is able to access Eagle on their computer and the permission to view the Synology NAS Drive folder is open to all your team members, then it’s good to go!
  • Note: After all, Eagle App is a tool made for personal usage, they don’t have permission levels or roles. Therefore, anyone who is connected to your shared Eagle library is allowed to modify, please make sure you set an editing guideline before you share with team members in case of unexpected file deletion. If you need permission settings, you can try the permission roles settings in Synology NAS, which offers different set up details for each user.

Lastly, Don’t forget to backup constantly to avoid data loss!

Eagle App is made an on-premise service, therefore if you decide to connect Eagle App library with the cloud it’s your own responsibility to back up constantly to make sure data is secured in case of unexpected damage, sudden loss of internet connection or power failure occurs, especially when you’re about to make changes to the Eagle library!

Strongly recommend backing up:

  • Whole Eagle library periodically or
  • Every time before sharing the Eagle library with your team
