Seattle Tilth teaches children and adults to garden and compost their food organically. I truly believe people should know where their food comes from. And it’s important that a majority of everyone’s food comes from a farm and not a factory.

I donated to Seattle Tilth as part of my 52 weeks of giving adventure because they give people the skills to cook, garden, and even raise livestock in the city. I like that their outreach is beyond Seattle, to the Eastside and even Auburn. They offer many classes, volunteer opportunities, and summer camps for teens and kids.

Their classes include composting, water protection, pickling, and even growing veggies in your apartment or condo! If you have a chance, check them out and get involved. They have an edible plant sale coming up on March 14th 9 Am — 3 PM with all sorts of goodies for you to take home and start growing food of your own!
