According to King County Committee to End Homelessness, approximately 5000–10,000 youths may be homeless at any time in a year in King County alone.

The numbers are heartbreaking especially given the amount of wealth and new development occurring in Seattle each year. Stand Up for Kids — Seattle provides a outreach program for homeless and at-risk youth in Downtown Seattle.

Volunteers head to the streets on Thursday nights to distribute food and hygiene packages, warm supplies and clean socks. They take time to connect and chat with the youth to learn how to help each individual.

I love the simplicity of their donation page. They break down their donations to exactly what they will provide. With my donation, as part of my 52 Weeks of Giving, I was able to give 2 Snack Packs. How many more snack packs can we give together?
