Creativity is a divine spark
What is your higher consciousness?
Is your higher consciousness that which creates through you?
Does it create your purpose here on Earth?
These are eternal questions we all wonder about, artist included.
I don’t have the answers for you, as this is a deeply personal quest for understanding.
I can only offer my own spiritual quest and the answers I’ve received.
I am not here to proselytize any belief-system, simply to share openly some interesting ideas for your contemplation.
Are you still here?
I welcome your open mind!
You have a Spiritual Energy System
By pursuing art, learning about artists, studying art philosophy, practicing art methods, materials, and musings, my vision, inner and outer, has expanded exponentially.
• Art has helped me have an open mind and expand my spiritual viewpoint.
• Art has been and continues to be a spiritual journey.
• By teaching art and working with other artists I’ve gotten to know the spirit of those people, their joy in creating, and much about what motivates them.
• I’ve learned to see beauty everywhere, and in everyone.
• I’ve had profound spiritual experiences which changed the trajectory of my life. I have felt Spiritual Energy physically, emotionally, and mentally. And it is even possible to see Spiritual Energy.
So Spiritual Energy is a very personal part of you. It is something you have to become aware of through your own willingness to connect to it, and in the manner you are comfortable.
A way to connect with Spiritual Energy is by meditation. It is important to know that there are lots of different ways to meditate, and it is useful to learn the ways that work best for you, including creating art.
Create Art by Connecting with Spiritual Energy
When you open yourself to attaining this connection, all that you create will be more in alignment with what you truly want to accomplish. You will be happier and more successful.
Getting started meditation
When you go to start or work on a piece of artwork, give yourself a few minutes to center yourself and be present in the time and space you are there (see suggestions below). It doesn’t have to take much time to do this, and is well worth your effort.
The act of creating as meditation
Your beingness in the action of creating can be a meditation, like walking-meditation. High-level emotions such as enthusiasm (en-theos = with god) connect you to Spiritual Energy while you create.
You know you’ve been connected with Spiritual Energy at those times when you stop to look at your creation and cannot remember doing it, and are surprised by how much time has gone by. Those times are also known as the Flow-State, and feel wonderful.
What are some things you can do to connect with Spiritual Energy?
Simply be present in this time and place
There is no past. What happened even one minute ago is gone. Each moment is new.
There is no future. You can plan, but you can only act in this moment.
Focus on the now by connecting with the preliminary steps to your creation work:
• Choose and set up your art supplies, tools, paints, etc. and really look at them
• Think about / envision what you want to work on
• Do warm-up stretches
• Draw preliminary sketches
• Write ideas, a word, or a stream of consciousness
• Touch the easel, table, computer, wall, floor, whatever is going to support your creation
• Feel your feet on the floor, or your butt in the chair
• Be aware of your environment: the temperature, sounds, smells, etc.
• Warm-up your hand and arm with a big pad of paper (newsprint) and your chosen medium to just get your motor running
• Be with your intention to create
Each of the above is a kind of a meditation in that the purpose for doing them is to bring you into the present moment. When you’ve achieved that presence you will find it easy to flow into the main thing you want to work on. Added benefit — no Artist Blocks.
The tips I share in the article on Emotional Energy apply here as well.
A color meditation for your Spiritual Energy
The colors of indigo, purple/red-violet, and white are the chakras that power your mind and connection to Spiritual Energy.
A useful meditation is seeing these colors, in your mind’s eye, growing and glowing brighter and brighter in intensity of color within the part of your body they emanate and spread out from.
• Indigo, Dark Midnight Blue — the center of your brain, pineal gland, third-eye, and center of your forehead. The function of this chakra is to bring both hemispheres of your brain working in harmony. It can be made more powerful through meditation and other mindfulness techniques.
• Purple / Red-Violet — the crown of your head. The function of this chakra is to hold the accumulated energies of all the other chakras as a reflection of your current life experience, and bring in wisdom and light from Source/God/Divine Consciousness/Great Spirit/Love/whatever-name-you-prefer.
• White Light — the color of the energy itself coming down into your crown chakra. Call in the white light to activate all the other colors in your body.
Simply by focusing and sustaining your conscious awareness on the crown of your head, visualizing the purple and white lights, will move you into a state of meditative peace.
These energy balls of light can be quite large, and extend outside your body. So don’t feel that you have to limit the size of them.
If you have a hard time visualizing color, think about and remember colored lights you have seen, such as Christmas bulbs, prism, or other colored light. You could also bring up a solid color on your computer or smart device and simply meditate on that. Allow your creativity to come up with a good way to visualize colors and see those bright colors inside your body. There are also colored lens glasses that would help you see colored light.
If you can only “see” muddy colors that’s a good indication you really need to do this meditation, and may need to see a doctor to find out if there is something going on in that area of your body. This meditation can help to heal those areas, too.
Nurture your Spiritual Energy System so it can help you be more creative
Your Spiritual Energy System is always available to guide your awareness, mind, emotions, and body to greater creativity.
Experiment with various meditation techniques, those listed here and any others, to develop your connection, presence, and beingness in peace and harmony with your Spiritual Energy System.
Wishing you joyful connection in creativity

P.S.
This is Part 5 of my series on Energy Creates Art which Creates Energy
Artists use all four energy systems to create their art, whether they realize it or not. But when they ARE aware of these energy systems they are better able to control or direct their energies in ways that help them create.
In addition, artists who are aware of the four energy systems their art projects are better able to make decisions in the content of their art.
I’m writing about all these energy systems and what creatives can do to develop mindfulness and positive action for their own energy and art.
