Remember Labor’s chaos and dysfunction?

In these uncertain economic times, we simply can’t afford Labor’s chaos.

They can’t be trusted with the economy

When the global economy was shocked in 2009, Labor had no idea what to do. So they splurged $87 billion of taxpayers’ money on mismanaged and wasteful programs.

This included sending $900 stimulus payments to 27,000 Australians living overseas, as well as to 21,000 dead people.

They rushed their disastrous Pink Batts Scheme to install household roof insulation. Its flawed roll-out cost over $2 billion and resulted in over 220 house fires, 70,000 repairs and four tragic deaths. Over $1 billion was spent rectifying the problems caused by the program, which was axed only a year later.

And let’s not forget Labor’s $16.2 billion Building the Education Revolution (BER) program that saw up to $8 billion wasted through rip-offs, rorts and blowouts. The program ran years behind and billions over budget. Don’t just take our word for it:

“The BER program basically ticks all the boxes of what not to do. From mismanaging massive amounts of taxpayers’ money, delivering (or not delivering) infrastructure that fails to meet even the most basic tests of quality or usefulness, and making a negative contribution to the (then) macroeconomic stimulus program.”

Professor Brian Dollery, University of New England (UNE News and Events Blog, 10/4/2014)

The simple fact is that in these times of economic uncertainty and global change, Labor cannot be trusted to govern responsibly. Only the Coalition has a plan for a strong new economy that will see us through these uncertain economic times.

Labor slugged us with the world’s biggest Carbon Tax

In its first year, the Carbon Tax was a $7.6 billion drag on our economy that cost the average household $550 per year. Under six years of Labor, electricity prices rose by 101% and despite the cost to the economy, emissions for the first 12 months of their Carbon Tax decreased by just 0.1%.

Labor remains committed to a ‘price on carbon’ through an emissions trading scheme. This is like a Carbon Tax, but with a changing, rather than a fixed price. Labor’s new tax on electricity will cost families, pensioners and businesses. However, they still won’t say by how much.

They put the people smugglers back in business

In the six years of Labor, over 50,000 people arrived by boat with at least 1,200 people losing their lives at sea making the treacherous journey to Australia. Of the more than 800 boats that came, not one was turned back by Labor. Their failure cost Australia over $11 billion.

Fifty of Bill Shorten’s candidates and MPs have spoken out against strong border protection policies, including his deputy Tanya Plibersek. He won’t be able to keep their support and lead his party unless he reverses our proven plan to stop the boats.

Bill Shorten says he’ll turn the boats around, but we’re not going to fall for that one twice:
