At Fright Night, we are so lucky to have talented and fashion-savvy guest judges for the annual Fright Night Costume Contest! This year we have four creative minds that are well-informed, educated and incredibly innovative to see that your amazing costume is fairly examined and judged while you’re in hot pursuit of the prizes that have been generously donated from our local community.

Meet this year’s judges:

Christine Gionet,
Owner of Renegade

On the surface, Renegade is a clothing store that offers clothing options in sizes 12+. Renegades will find fashions that allow them to step out of their comfort zones, to let their personalities shine, and to celebrate their beautiful bodies! Contrary to what we have been lead to believe for years, ALL women are worthy of fabulous clothes, are worthy of feeling and looking beautiful, and are worthy of finding confidence and empowerment.

Renegade is a positive and encouraging environment for women of size to love and embrace themselves as they are. Women have fun in my store, they twirl and dance, they encourage each other, and they share their wonderful experiences with others. It’s an enriching community that has allowed so many women to grow and discover new levels of self-love and confidence.

Charlene Pratt,
Secondary School educator and teacher of Fashion

Charlene Pratt is currently teaching high school at Strathroy DCI. One of her favourite classes to teach is Grade 11 Fashion and Creative Expression. She is an alumnus of the University of Alberta’s Clothing and Textiles program. She loves costume studies in art history, and drama. Re-creating history or creating characters through costume is always a challenge in accuracy and attention to detail in design and technique. Fright Night is a serious costume challenge on so many levels. Scary, funny, social commentary- there is endless scope for imagination. Thank God for Halloween—everyone’s chance to play dress-up!

Natalie Bradshaw & Darlene Davis, Filthy Rebena

Two women collecting quality thrift, vintage and wardrobe staples to share with the curious, the kind and the mad. We believe that purchasing recycled clothing is smart and sexy — while being fashionable you are making our environment and our society a little bit better.

Filthy Rebena Vintage is a trendy vintage store that includes men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, footwear and upscale housewares and trinkets. Filthy’s current collection is focused on trends from the 1970’s and 1990’s. To contact us about inquiries, please email filthyrebena@gmail.com.
