The time has come. The initial build of Navigate Maps alpha is now open to everyone. Starting today, anyone around the world can visit Navigate Maps and explore thousands of images!

Currently showing only aerial imagery (street-level imagery is coming soon!), this early build of Navigate Maps allows users to explore unique datasets from Navigate contributors, compare imagery to satellite view, interact with new map layers, view a variety of datasets from open source communities overlaid on the map, and send feedback to the Navigate team.

But this is just the beginning. With some exciting new features rolling out in Navigate Maps over the next few months (that’s right, keep an eye out for some announcements coming up), Navigate is just getting started.

About Navigate Maps

Navigate Maps is not a traditional mapping application. It is powered by contributors from across the world, who use drones, dashcams, GoPros, phones, and other devices to upload recent, and high-resolution imagery of their city. This is the type of data lacking from so many of the mapping applications out there today. While everyone uses maps in a different way, almost everyone needs and wants to see an accurate representation of the world today, not from 3 years ago.

By crowdsourcing imagery, Navigate Maps brings you better data and allows you to view the world through the lens of people who explore it everyday. By looking past just traditional mapping features, Navigate Maps will instead focus on using unique datasets and AI models to help people and businesses who want a better understanding of the planet.

This isn’t a task that should be solely dependent on one or two large corporations. The Earth is made up of people who see the most recent version of our world for themselves every day. When people drive to work, fly their drone on the weekend, bike to the park, or just take a photo on the street during a vacation, they are capturing incredibly useful data that so many people, businesses, non-profits, and communities need. With Navigate, users have the ability to put that data to some exciting use and earn rewards for doing so! By uploading images and footage to Navigate, users not only help fuel Navigate Maps, but they are also rewarded for each accepted upload with NVG8 tokens.
