During the past week, Nimipet had many challenges — servers were crashing, Porky Pool was down under DDoS attack, users encountered bugs, and some nimipets have even died because of these disruptions.

Nevertheless, Nimipet persisted, fixed most of the issues, resurrected the dead nimipets, integrated new features and successfully made it to the v0.3.0-beta version. Furthermore, Nimipet has exciting plans for the future.

Below is the quick overview of the newly added features and also an early vision for the Nimipet Marketplace.

Nimipet styles

All users can now style their nimipets using different color gradients.

Updated leaderboard

On the leaderboard, the top 10 nimipets are now visible with their images.

The top 10 nimipets also show their current states. It was a bit painful to watch Blok Chan in its “terrified” state before it finally passed away. But these are the rules and the drama of the game. RIP Blok Chan.

Airdrops

As announced in the earlier blog post, 50% of all NIMs from dead nimipets will go back to the Nimipet community during weekly airdrops on every Sunday 23:59 UTC 00:00.

The first airdrop happened a week ago during which a total of 1500 NIMs were airdropped.

The up to date page for airdrops is available here: https://nimipet.com/airdrop

CPU threads slider

We have added a slider that allows users to change the number of CPU threads used for mining.

DISCLAIMER: We do not provide any recommendations on how many threads is the best option, and we are not responsible for any damages to you or your hardware caused directly or indirectly by mining on Nimipet.

So far we haven’t heard about any damages caused by browser-mining on Nimipet or Nimiq.com, but if users leave their devices mining on a high number of threads for long and uninterrupted periods of time, we believe that there is a risk involved.

This risk is not exclusively related to Nimipet or Nimiq mining but is a general risk associated with cryptocurrency mining.

Public pages for nimipets and mining on multiple devices

Every nimipet now has its individual public page. The page link can be shared with other people so that they can help to mine NIMs and food for the nimipet.

Now it is also possible to mine on multiple devices simultaneously, as you can see in the photo below.

There is a limit of 96 pieces of food that can be mined during 24 hours, but there is no limit on the amount of NIMs that can be mined. When mining on multiple devices, the amounts of NIMs accumulate.

What’s next?

Nimipet is now more or less stable and has all the essential features in place.

The hashrate is growing and is now around 100–150 kH/sec. If we can reach 1 MH/sec, we will run our own pool and will bring even more stability to the game.

There is a big “to do” list of features that will make the game even more exciting and fun to play, but all these can wait because now the priority is the Nimipet Marketplace.

The early mockup is presented below.

This is still just a visual sketch, and a lot of technical challenges await.

Besides the implementation of the marketplace itself and the logic behind it with the different goods to sell, for the marketplace to function there is also a need to create an internal NIM wallet, based on the off-chain ledger, with the possibility to deposit and withdraw NIMs.

This is doable but will take some time to implement. In the end, the fully functional in-game economy will be created where some users will be selling, and others will be buying goods in the marketplace, based on the principle of supply and demand.

There’s no time to waste, a big challenge awaits, so let’s get back to work :)

To all the users, big thanks for being a part of the community. Take care of your pets, spread the message about Nimipet and connect on our social channels if you haven’t done that yet.
