There is a path on which to go
It’s stones are deeds of virtue
It’s steps are hard to trod like snow
But the way means not to hurt you
It’s tried and true, prepared for you
Established long ago
It’s wide with options far from few
Right or left I oft not know
While walking, study the Designer
That you may know what He is like
You’ll see there are no stones finer
And learn to love their place and type
To stay on course is hard
As stated in the title
But strive to love the safeguards
And not need curbed by bit or bridle
There are obstacles along this road
Placed there by design
Not placed for your destruction, no
But so you’d be refined
It’s a series of joyful tests to pass
So walk the path as it is
He placed these for your best, as tasks
That you’d ever place your hand in His
Heart bowed down and eyes aloft
Posture humble and dependent
Heart aligned, speech slow and soft
Awaiting glory that’s transcendent
We do not walk the path alone
The Designer gives support
Some are starting and some are grown
And without them we fall short
Another path exists as well
This is the other way
Wide and easy, thus many dwell
Led by heart astray
How could we walk this righteous way
Without loving these adrift?
The stones themselves indeed portray
Follow Him who is the path
As He also guides along
Let Him wash you in the hyssop bath
Pure and ready for the dawn
