Echoing The Mother: Companion Poem to PART 1, #5 of The BWS Project Launch Series (2024)

Close-up of a human giant, blinking in the dark
ⓒ The BWS Project 2024

This is the sixth poetic translation offered from Companion Set One, the nine-lyric series. The numerical value of the mother post it is born out of is shown in the subtitle for later easy reference (after the 2024 launch series is published). While standing alone, it “echoes the mother.”

Swaddled in darkness.
In the unlit scarlet room
no satin in the moon — no stars — no moon,
the giant’s tomb encases It,
rendering It emotionless.

Reflecting on Its emptiness.
Impending doom
strewn throughout the tomb
surges, sweeping through It, strangling It,
smothering ancient dreams of fullness.

No glitter in the night.
Blinking in the dark,
It stumbles on the heart
carved in the boulder stone, and the script arcing above it,
in the middle of the faint silhouette. No light.

Whole absence of sight.
Stroking the arc,
the tactile scene — engraved heart
and legend, chanting over it —
incites the giant’s natal curiosity. No light!

The legend in the stone.
Not asking, the baritone, calling out
through the northern rocky mouth
bellows, “Read every letter of it —
the whole script.”
The giant is a baritone.

The voice the giant’s own.
Following that northern route,
escaping the tomb, It moves about
and there is hope for It
in the pitch black arc chiseled in the stone.

O, there is hope for It now.
Return of the satin moon?
And the stars? To the unlit scarlet room?
There is hope for It,
if It can read the arc somehow.

If It can read the arc, somehow.
O, It has digits! Outside the tomb,
It can read the darkroom,
capturing the script, every letter of it.
It will read it. Soon, It will know, now.

The human giant and the arc.
No longer below
but high above the muddy shallows,
UP in the ethereal heart of It,
looking“seeing” — reading — speaking — through the dark.

Blinking in the dark.
Its upper digits in tow,
the giant sweeps the lettering, in deep shadow,
searching for the light in It.
There is hope for It…under the veil of the arc, above the heart.

Swaddled in darkness,
reflecting on Its emptiness,
no glitter in the night,
whole absence of sight.
The legend in the stone.
the voice the giant’s own,
O, there is hope for it now,
if It can read it somehow.
The human giant and the arc
blinking in the dark.
