Savings challenges can be fun ways to get motivated and break our common routines. I’m sure you’ve seen a bunch of these on Pinterest.

One of the most popular savings challenges is called the “52 Week Savings Challenge.” The goal is to save a specific amount of money each week and at the end of a year you’ll have $1,352.00 in your Tip Jar!

There’s two ways to do it.

OPTION 1: Counting UP each week

In Week 1 you’ll Tip Yourself $1.00. Week 2, $2.00… etc. All the way up to Week 52 when you’ll tip $52.00.

OPTION 2: Counting DOWN each week

The great thing about counting down each week is that the challenge gets easier over time. When it comes to building new habits or trying to change your behavior you want to make your new habits as easy as possible.

Counting down, you will Tip Yourself $52.00 in week 1 and then $51.00 in week 2.. finally you only need to tip $1.00 in Week 52.
