The labor market is facing a new generation that is changing the rules of the game. Millennials are respectively demanding full and complete transparency. Sure, there are companies, if not already, adjusting to these demands, but there are also companies still purposely avoiding transparency.

Here are some reasons why many companies do not choose change and prefer to hide information:

Poor Management

If you manage your business consistently there’s no reason to avoid company transparency, right? However, if illegal or incorrect actions are taken, you’d rather hide information to protect yourself, regardless of the uncertainty this can create.

Often, companies don’t know how to manage their costs. It is possible they just don’t know how to administer their payroll and charging clientele, so they rather hide this information.

Fear of Data Leakage

Fear is a strong emotion. It’s fear that can sometimes drive these companies to believe that it’s best to provide limited information in order to keep discretion. They’re afraid of outsiders reaching important data, such as the competition. But the fact is, if companies build work relationships with trust and honesty it is unlikely to face a data leak issue.

It is no coincidence that companies that follow transparency policies, who have an honest and proper administration, thrive. Proper administration and management is key here. Having a reliable and committed team, in a company that shares valuable information, is the foundation of a happy and forward thinking work environment.
