In IELTS writing task two, you will be given an argument, problem, or writer’s point of view and asked to write an essay on it. Your essay should not be fewer than 250 words, and you will have 40 minutes to finish this task. This assignment is worth more points than writing task 1 and hence requires greater attention. To help you with this task, we’ve compiled a list of five handy tips.

Answer the relevant question:

Because this task is more important, read the instructions attentively. It is critical to respond to the statement’s specific question. Everything you write should be related to the specified topic or concept in some way. Try to use examples that are more known to you and also directly connect to the answer. Try to use a variety of anecdotes to support your main point.

Take a stance:
Mostly you will be asked to either agree or disagree with the statement given in the task and then expand your essay on it. So decide on a stance and stick to it throughout the essay. Strengthen your case using ideas and examples, and avoid being uncertain about your decision.

Progress logically:

Before you start writing, make a plan for your essay. Consider the structure you want to give it, as well as how distinct paragraphs should be related. It is critical that the essay sound coherent. Avoid hopping from one thought to another with no obvious link.

Use advanced vocabulary:

It is critical to demonstrate your English language abilities to the examiner in IELTS writing task two through your grammar and vocabulary. You must include some advanced words that are not commonly used in everyday conversation. There are a variety of apps available (e.g., Magoosh) to help you study for IELTS vocabulary, so use them and remember to incorporate some good and uncommon words in your essay.

Check your work:

Most crucial, once you have completed your essay, proofread it thoroughly. Check that you have addressed the question and that your examiner can find the essay relevant to the question. Also double-check the spelling and grammatical errors.
