here we go again…

Oh, java. ☕

The programming language that everyone loves to hate. It’s clunky, it’s verbose, and it’s been around for what feels like forever. So is it still worth learning in 2023? Absolutely!

Ok so you’re having this eager ambition to become a programmer or to learn another language, and Java just crossed your mind. Well guess what, SPOILER ALERT: …yes. Yes, Java will still be worth it.

Actually, there is a good chance Java is gonna stick around for more than a decade from now on.

statisticsanddata.org

Java has been around since the early 1990’s, and it is still one of the most popular languages today. It is estimated that there are 9 million Java developers worldwide and 3 billion devices run Java.

Now let me ask you this: Do you think all these devices are just gonna stop running Java overnight? Probably not. In fact, most of them will continue to run Java for many years to come.

This is because Java is a very versatile language. It can be used for developing desktop applications, web applications, mobile applications, embedded systems, and much more.

Not to mention, there are countless libraries and frameworks available in Java that make development a lot easier. For example, Spring Boot is a popular framework used for developing microservices in Java.

Another reason why Java will continue to be popular is because it is relatively easy to learn. Sure, it may not be as easy as Python, but it’s still far from being the hardest language out there. And last but not least, Java is backed by a very strong community, of course.

I know, I know, you’re thinking “ Java is soooo boring. It’s like, the most basic programming language ever.” But hear me out! Java is actually really fun once you get the hang of it. It’s perfect for building quick and easy prototypes or for powering complex backend systems. And it’s not just for big companies either- lots of small businesses and startups use Java to build their products.

Java is more than just a hot cup of coffee in the morning. It’s also a programming language that is beloved by developers around the world. And once you get started, you might be surprised at how cool it can be. So what are you waiting for? Just try Java and see for yourself why so many people love it.

Maybe you will feel a little more motivated after you’ve read how I got into learning programming and getting my first job as a software developer 😁
