Hip-hop has always been a controversial art form.
Since its inception, its unfiltered portrayal of urban issues like poverty and systemic racism has triggered both fans and critics across the globe.
While I consider myself a casual listener of the genre, I was drawn to a particular rap feud between two familiar names: Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
The two had been at loggerheads since the early 2010s, and the recent diss tracks appeared to be a settlement of scores.
From Kendrick’s standpoint, Drake is a culture vulture, exploiting black music to gain fame and fortune. From Drake’s view, Kendrick is jealous of the success Drake has attained.
