Welcome to our new monthly blog post series that shells out the latest and greatest on the happenings at Anomura HQ.
This was an ever-busy month for us behind the scenes here at Anomura HQ.
Here’s a summary of this month’s accomplishments:
✨ Game concept demo development ✨
We’ve significantly improved our game concept demo’s gameplay and mechanics and will be working on fine-tuning it further during November.
We’re also preparing a substantial upgrade to how games are modified in web3. We believe the future of web3 gaming relies heavily on mainstream adoption. Thus we are making our experience come with fewer requirements for onboarding users, such as utilizing custodial wallets and monetizing fiat instead of cryptocurrency that may be hard to acquire for new users. What this means is for our current users, expect more passive earnings from fiat users onboarded from the mainstream crowd.
✨ Mystery Bowl Alpha ✨
On October 2nd, Whaledrop’s (Long Do) birthday, we announced that the ever growing STARFISH in Anomura Mystery Bowls was created to be an on-chain loyalty system. The longer you hold your Mystery Bowl NFT, the more STARFISH is earned and at an exponential rate.
We successfully minted Anomura in what feels like the worst possible conditions, amongst peak FUD surrounding the implications of the Merge. We wanted to be a part of history by creating a smart contract on the last day of proof of work that takes in proof of stake and proof of work in its block time considerations. Read the blog here.
✨ Inventory dApp System ✨
We revealed that we’re currently working on a unique inventory dApp system which will allow users to equip and de-equip certain items from their inventory to customise the appearance of their Anomuras NFTs.
The Inventory dApp will allow ERC721s to be staked in a gamified manner. The major difference between DeFi staking and our inventory system is the utility in gamification. Staking allows NFTs to have tangible gamification rewards such as cosmetic visual changes and in the future, allowance of game utility such as power-ups, buffs, and feature access. The contract also has plans for rollouts of other ERCs; including ERC20s which we believe can be a game changer on how we look at gaming and the union of deFi mechanics.
✨ *NEW* Outreach division ✨
Fostering partnerships and collaborations and learning about the different facets of web3 have always been important to us because we’re always looking for interesting ways to give value to our holders. To date, we’ve run several giveaways from top-tier projects and are always on the lookout for more.
To maximize our efforts, we’ve established a new outreach division — a dedicated team of our Discord team Bdede, Carisne, and Orpheus, together they’ve worked on countless projects ranging from Neo Tokyo, Spectre, Steady Stack and more to work on outreach exclusively.

This month, we’re excited to announce that we’ve secured the following partnerships and integrations:
Chainlink
Chainlink provides a great solution in Verifiable Randomness Functions (VRF) to create truly randomized NFT metadata. As a game, we want to create a fair balance and utilize decentralization to show transparency in our distribution. Chainlink comes in as a great partner to assist in achieving balanced gameplay. In the future, we also plan to utilize their automation framework to create future product enhancements to script daily, weekly, and hourly tasks such as Game Asset — NFT transfers to and from mobile game clients. Chainlink is reputable and has already been used by our first game ZED Run for several years, it is used by Aave, Comound, ENS, and countless others. Unstoppable Domains
Unstoppable Domains is a substantial partner backed by many serious VCs this past year.
We are excited to partner with UnstoppableDomains in building more infrastructure in the largely unexplored territory of gamification and identity. As long-time gamers, we see promise and excitement about building achievements with your identity, watching pro players tear it up in top eSports competitions and exploring many other avenues such as personal identity infrastructure to your NFT assets.
ZED Run World Cup Sponsorship
Virtually Human Studio’s flagship game ZED Run announced its World Cup celebrations with Anomura as an official sponsor. We’re sponsoring the Best Young Racer award! The 32 racehorses with the most podiums that were bred after the ZED Run World Cup skin reveal will each receive $100 USD. The total prize pool for this is $3,200 USD and Anomura NFTs!

✨ Twitter Spaces ✨
We had a busy month with various Twitter Spaces and are always excited to contribute and create meaningful dialogue in this space.
Sustainability in Web3 with Aerial & SeaTrees
Building a game with a greater purpose is one of Anomura’s core tenets, and this space had Andreas Horner, co-founder of Aerial and Haley Jain Haggerstone of SeaTrees.
We quantified the carbon footprint with Aerial, wiped out the carbon footprint of our mint and became Ocean Positive by purchasing additional credits for SeaTrees. We wanted Anomurans a chance to learn about the projects that our carbon credits went to and explain the mechanics of the play-to-donate feature in Anomura.
We also discussed ways to significantly reduce our impact on the environment in the long run and that every little bit counts. The key takeaway from this space is that humans can become more connected and move towards sustainability through things like gaming.
Oh, and it’s important to go outside still and touch the grass 🌱

Balthazar’s Onboarding Web2 Gamers to Web3
One of the main takeaways from this space is that the Anomura team has been building an in-game gold system that is not based on any tokens. Long and our team of C.R.A.Bs believe it’s really important to reward people for playing the game, giving them a chance to unlock skills and talents like in a traditional game and create more of an identity for themselves within Anomura and customise their characters without monetary constraints.
Anomura depends on gamification to educate our user base on things like crafting which involves burning and minting NFTs as an integral default part of the UX of the game. We’re also exploring staking where players can stake NFTs to their inventory. All of the things under the hood add to the experience.

Women in Web3 ft. Human Park and Anomura
Anomura’s Marketing & Partnerships Lead, Bean, and Communications & Storyteller, Lala, were invited to an amazing space celebrating the women of Virtually Human Studio (VHS) thanks to our frens at Human Park. We discussed how web3 is the natural convergence of many fields like technology, economics, finance, sociology, law, and more. Each panellist came from various backgrounds and ended up in the same industry.
We all found commonalities and solidarity in the frenetic and ever-evolving nature of web3 and how it’s refreshing to see more women creatives, artists, and community builders forge a path for themselves within the VHS ecosystem — and beyond.
