There is a tradition in Kerala, that in the month of Malayalam month Karkidaham (Cancer equivalent of sun sign), devotees read Ramayana. ‘Adyathma Ramayanam’ -a.k.a Malayalam Ramayana written by Thunjathu Ezhuthachan, father of Malayalam Language. Karkidaham starts mid July and goes till Mid August, after this is the month of Onam, the grand festival season of Kerala. Onam month is (Aug/Sept) the best time of visiting Kerala.

I have performed this ritual few few times in the past. There is a mandate that if you start, you should complete reading till Yudhakandam at least, before the month end. Could not start it this year. Last year during this time, I had tweeted entire Ramayana in 19 tweets — recalling the same in this write up. You can see the date time in there as 2014.
