5 Tips to Get the Most of your Cold Shower App
Or how to make tracking cold showers a piece of cake.
Welcome to the Cold Shower App!
After trying existing cold shower tracking applications and not being happy with any, I created the Cold Shower app. Over years (and many showers) I continued tweaking the app to make it as simple and easy to use as possible. Here are some tips to get the most out of it.
1. Start with a Hot Shower
The Cold Shower App gives you time to prepare before the timer starts. By default, the Get Ready Timer is set to 10 seconds, allowing you to step into the shower or ice bath before the countdown begins.
But what if you want to start with a warm/hot shower instead? You can customize the Get Ready Timer to any duration between 0 seconds and 1 hour. Here’s how:
- On the Timer screen, tap the clock icon in the top-right corner. This opens the Get Ready Timer settings.
- Use the minutes and seconds wheels to select your preferred duration.
- Tap “Save” to apply the changes.
That’s it! Now, each time you press “Start” on the app, you’ll have your chosen preparation time to enjoy a warm shower before the app asks you to switch to the cold one.
2. Add Missing Showers
Have you ever forgot to log in one of your showers or didn’t have your phone with you while taking an ice bath? No worries, now, you can easily add any missing showers to your calendar. Here’s how to do it:
- Open the Cold Shower App and go to your calendar.
- Look for an empty date that you want to add a shower to.
- Click on the date to bring up the “Add Shower” option.
- Select the time (and optionally the temperature) of the cold shower or ice bath.
- Finally, click on “Add” to save your shower to the calendar.
You did it! Missing showers no more.
3. Faster Increment
By default, you can increase or decrease the temperature of your shower by increments of 0.5°C and adjust the time of the shower by 5 seconds at a time. But what if you need a bigger increment and don’t want to press the button many times?
Well, there is an a̶p̶p̶ trick for that.
Simply long press the button for either temperature or time adjustment. This will make the temperature increase or decrease by 10°C and the time increase or decrease by a minute. That’s right, no more tired fingers from pressing the button multiple times!
4. Don’t Miss the Bell
Sometimes it can be difficult to hear the Voice Coach and the bell over the sound of running water during your cold shower.
Here’s how to address this issue :
- Go to your profile by tapping the profile icon in the app.
- Click on the “Settings” icon on the top right.
- Adjust the volume of the Voice Coach to maximum.
This way, the app will be as loud as your phone can possibly handle, making it easier for you to hear the bell and the Coach.
For an even better experience, consider connecting a Bluetooth speaker to your phone.
5. It’s never too late to Show Off
Did you had an awesome cold shower or ice bath that you forgot (or were too modest) to share on Twitter for the whole world to see ? Well, worry no more, because now you can easily share even your previous showers!
Here’s how:
- Go to the Logs tab — This is where all your past showers and ice baths are stored.
- Tap on any shower or ice bath — This will open a dialog with details about your cold exposure session.
- Click on “Share” — A dialog will appear, letting you choose where to share: Twitter, Telegram, or WhatsApp.
That’s it, now the whole world will know just how cool you are.
I hope these few tips will help you enjoy the Cold Shower App even more! Don’t hesitate to leave a comment if you have any questions or feedback. Or a feature you absolutely want. Or to brag about your last cold shower!
