There seems to be a real world problem that we at BREWSKI Labs think we might be able to solve.

PROBLEM

A brewer has an idea for a new flavour combination but doesn’t know if it will actually sell. As a microbrewer with little marketing funds and a narrow scope to market to, how do you solve this without committing funds to what could be a non-starter with the general public?

As a craft beer fan I’m sure you realise that Craft Beer breweries don’t just magically appear and start selling at the scale of Brew Dog, Boston Beer or Great Leap Brewing. It’s usually a long slow process starting off as a Home Brewer, scaling up to become a microbrewer first renting space in a local brewery, then getting your own small scale microbrewery and slowly scaling up to become Brew Pub or expanding the distribution nationally and then to foreign countries.

As a brew pub or large scale brewer you have funds to market any new ideas of flavour combinations and can likely take the hit on a small brew not doing so well but as a microbrewer or even as a home brewer looking to get their big break and get their new idea out there, what do you do?

First a little back story to explain how this problem was discovered, I am co-founder of BREWSKI Labs which is a company under the BREWSKI brewery brand, brewing in Sweden since 2014. My co-founder Marcus took the bold step back in 2014 and decided that Mango IPA’s were the way forward, he took the bold (if slightly crazy) step of sinking his funds into buying a brewery outright. In following his beliefs it turned out to be the right move and over 1 million Pango Feber (pineapple mango IPA) have been sold since. Now in the fortunate position to help other local microbreweries get a foot on the ladder, BREWSKI rents space in the brewery for those up and coming microbreweries to make their own brands brews. However, in talking with some of these they explained the issue that their customer outreach was limited and brewing a “small” batch was still a significant outlay for them to take any risks on that new bubble gum or liquorice flavoured IPA that they may have been considering. (those flavours were made up by me but if they turn out to be big, you heard it hear first!)

This is where BREWSKI Labs comes in, the aim is to connect Microbreweries with Craft Beer Lovers and reward interaction.

CONCEPT

If a microbrewer needs to spend for example $5000 for a small batch brew on their new concept idea today simply to get tasters out there for the public, wouldn’t it make more sense to spend say 10% ($500) of that on marketing the idea to a group of Craft beer lovers in their area or further afield?

The microbrewer possibly saves $4500 on an idea that isn’t popular or if it is popular then they have already a group of people who know what’s coming and can be updated on the progress and where/when it will be available. Instant customers.

The craft beer fan gets paid a portion of the $500 put up by the microbrewer simply for giving feedback in the form of a questionnaire or answering a poll and also gets to hear of the latest things in the pipeline that might be of interest to them.

SOLUTION

The way we envisage this working is via the BREWSKI Labs platform.

  • Craft Beer Fans own BREWSKI coin and are therefore automatically part of the BREWSKI Council.
  • Microbreweries buy an amount of BREWSKI Coin they want to put up as a reward and write their proposal for the council to review/vote on including any contact details/websites to follows with a time period, e.g 1 week, for the council to answer.
  • The proposal goes live and any BREWSKI Coin holder can then answer the proposal. At the end of the time period, the rewards per person are calculated and distributed.
  • Each voter likely holds different amounts of BREWSKI Coin and the amount they hold determines their voting power. More coin held, more voting power. This encourages long term users of the platform and discourages those who simply want the freebies handed out by the microbreweries randomly answering without any thought. No coins are spent in voting it simply determines voting power and the % of the reward on offer that is received.

“Coin? so that’s blockchain and Crypto??? no no no, crypto is a scam” I hear you say. It’s true there are a LOT of dodgy projects out there in the crypto world and we support the statement that the sooner that regulation comes to the space the better. With many governments around the world considering having their own national stablecoin that compliments the national currency, this is hopefully not too far away. In the meantime, those projects that have true utility and solve a real world problem backed by a trusted project team who are open can use the technology for its intended use being first to release new solutions with the technology.

Back in 2014 when Marcus wanted to make a mango IPA people told him he was crazy and no one would want it, now over 1 million have been sold.

In 2016 when he announced a 3 day open air craft beer festival in southern Sweden, not in a lush park space but in the grounds surrounding the brewery on an industrial estate, many laughed at the thought. Today over 8000 people come to BREWSKIVAL each year and over 100 craft breweries from around the world attend.

BREWSKIVAL

The point being, by thinking a little differently then perhaps we can further the craft beer movement and bring in the next evolution for the craft beer community. We hope you want to be a part of that journey.

‘Blockchain meets Brewery’

Our BREWSKI Coin token has 3 main uses, the BREWSKI Council is just one, the others are using it as a means of payment in bars and at the festival and the final concept being used to purchase Collectible NFT Digital Artwork that has real world rewards attached. These rewards can be used in the physical world.
